1.) Well I’m looking at up grading the pony. I got the stock 302 in there and it smokes and eats plugs. So I want to doan up grade. I just don’t know what to do. I want something nice. I got a ford racing T-5 and a spec clutch (3+) so I know well be good there. Something maybe around 450hp, with out going with a blower or turbo. I’m going to keep the nitrous but only like a 100 shot. What do you guys think?

2.) I going with the baer kit for brakes so that’s good. Also I want to put 315 in the back. How hard is that going to be? What about going with tube front a arms? (I know I well have to get the fenders flared to fit 315 in the back).

3.) Can I talk body work in there or do I have to go to talk?

Thanks guys

You could do a 302/306 but it would take more to get there. The easiest way to get to your goal would be a 347. Figure around 350hp with a good setup on pump gas conservatively and put a 100shot on it and you have your goal.

You probably should have chosen a different transmission for your combo.

My brother bought the tranny back in 94. The car only has around 36k on it. I was thinking about a tko 600.

If you have nitrous to assist you, the 331 and 347 will get you closer to your goal. Stock block eh?

I might suggest the 331, more piston material than the 3.4" stroke engine (347) and a the rod ratio is a tick less extreme, which doesn't matter in aftermarket blocks near as much, but with a stocker...I wouldn't push it.

Get a safe nitrous tune and a 331 or 347 will get you there.

I'm using mega squrit for my tunning. Should I use my stock block or just stop being cheap and get a dart block?

A 351W block is stronger than a 302 block.

A Dart block would be great, but it is costly, with the block price, and the internals, extra machining, and assembly...you could easily spend 4,000 bucks on a shortblock.

Good Luck!

HAHAHA thanks. What about a 351 roller out of a truck and just rebuild the bottom end and put on a nice top end?

Late model 351 blocks are no stronger than late model 302 blocks according to my builder.

I would build a n/a 331 or 347.

Sounds like a plain. Can I use the stock block?

And what about 2,3?

a 351 stroked to 408, n/a, will net you around 400 hp if done right, with nitrous you could spray less or stay with the 100 shot. You can get 400 hp froma 347 also. n/a

sounds like he wants to stay under the limits of the stock block. I would suggest a 331 with the stock block and use a 100 shot. Like people said before that will get you to right around the number your looking for. With a safe tune you should be fine.

Yep, look what I posted near the beginning

Nitrous makes things a bit less predicatable than all motor. The block may or may not last...

I would go 331 or 347 if you plan on staying with a 302 based motor. My daily driver is a 347 with 100 shot. But I would go with a 351 based stroker if you have the funds.

That is exactly what I said, the latemodel 351W will split right up the middle just like the 302. If your looking at 351 goes 69-74 they are the thick web blocks and can hold decent power levels.

Are any of the older 302 blocks any stronger than our late model blocks?
