i can do a 302 or 351. i have everything together to do either except a gt40 351 lower. this is just a fun car that will go to the track 2 times per summer.

i just don't see any reason not to do it.

my plans on either:
long tubes
3.73
24 #
windsor jr heads
gt40 intake
mass air????
throttle body???

yeah, i'm very undecided. i change my mind everyday. i'm afraid to spend money one direction and wish i went another.

If you don't plan on getting a stroker kit or something like that where you're digging into the engine, go with the 351 since you'll come out with more cubes, more torque and more HP. If money is no object or if you plan on stroking, you can plenty make up for what the 302 lacks with a good stroker kit....but then again you can always stroke the 351.

In the end i see no reason why you wouldn't go 351 if you have the option. Torque is a wonderful thing :D

^^ Agree with above. I would stroke it though if I was looking for a 351w swap. 408 cubes with afr 205 or even 225's (my pick) would be very nasty. Some mild compression increase along with a decent cam, intake, and a squeeze of juice would be my ideal budgetish 408 build.

Also there's a considerable bonus with the 351 block being stronger...that's piece of mind at least.

For me, all i want with my car is a full Griggs GR40 suspension with tubular k member, a Manowar 351 block stroked to 470ci, built to run at least 8k RPM and backed by a T56 and 4.10 gears. Talk about a handful of street car :D
