Has anyone completed a turbo build on a 1984 or older engine that has a carb? i'm just curious as to what all would be needed to complete this build and if there were any good kits to turbo my carbed 84 Fox? I have a budget of about $4,000 and would like to complete this build by the end of June/ July. Any info at this point is helpful.

When you consider what you're starting with and what you need to do it RIGHT and be useful, I personally think you're overshooting your budget.
The Internet gives people the false hope that turbocharging anything takes a few hours and a couple hand tools and that's just not the case

If I got the turbo, maybe a t62-1 and a propper carb with hat, what else is left on the build other than downpipe/ headers, and intercooler other than piping?

Buy a b and g turbo kit the hot side and an inter cooler from them and you'll more then likely have to build your own cold side which technically won't be hard to do just time consuming if I were you when building the cold side would be to weld as much of it as I can and only put those silicone couplings where needed. Hope this helps you out

I found the single turbo kit, with hot and cold side, would that be all I need? I'm just looking for around 400 rwhp at 8psi to stay safe on my stock block.

If you cant weld, B&G is a great option. If you dont mind using your brain and being creative, then flipped shorty headers and your own custom hot and coldside would be the way to go.

Dished pistons not domed(or some people refer to them as reverse domed pistons) are what you would need. What are your current mods on the car? Suspension, tires, trans, fuel system, etc. Not trying to offend you but do you realize everything you need to do this correctly? I think you might be in over your head on this.

Currently its stock. My plans for the car are what's listed here, 24# fuel injectors, a good tune up, and rebuild, eibach coilover kit,t5 tranny, and nitto tires. I'm not planning all of that for $4,000. The $ 4,000 budget was for turbo only.

You're using a carb AND 24# fuel injectors ?
