302 swap?

Hey, just wondering what might be involved, how easy it would be to swap in a 5.0L HO? Would I need to swap trannies? Wiring harness? It should fit into the existing motor mounts right?

This will be a project motor. I will probably rebore it out to a 347 while I'm at it. Supercharger, turbo?

This is just in the planning stage, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you are talking about your 97 GT, it will be a PITA. Almost all body wiring will need to be swapped, need a different tranny (T45 doesn't match 5.0 bolt pattern), it will fit the mounts, but a lot of other things would have to change. The better way would be to buy a 94-95 5.0 stang and use that for your build up. Good luck!

I see you said you would probably stroke it to a 347, but your other option is a stroker kit for your 4.6. Dont they make strokers for his year that will convert his to a 5.0?

yeah, they have strokers for our motors. They even have a few big bore options for the 4.6. Check out dssracing.com for the kits.

I agree with above posts, if you wanna go 5.0, get a 94-95... it will save you a lot of trouble.
