315 Nitto DR's on 17x9.5 rims?

I was told that it is possible to fit the Nitto 315/35/17 drag radials on 17x9.5 rims. Is this true? Are there any disadvantages or problems with doing this?

i think thats a little narrow. i just mounted some BFG 315/35/17's on a set of AFS chrome 03 cobra rims 17x10.5 and they fit fairly well. we had a kick ass brand new hunter tire machine though so it was fairly easy. plus when we balanced then on the road force balancer they didnt need much weight at all.

It will fit with room to spare. I have seen plenty of 315/35/17 nittos mounted on 9" rims. I have mine on 10.5" rims and they are too narrow for the wheel.

315/35/17 BFG's are MUCH wider than 315/35/17 Nittos. I've had both on my 17x10.5s. There is not even a comparison.

Yeah...I thought so too. I think Nitto runs small and BFG runs a little big. My BFG's bowed out a lot on my 10.5's but my Nitto's actually bow in a little.

03 cobra owners are doing it. i believe the new cobra wheels are only 17x9s.

The stock 03 Cobra rims are exactly 9.4 inches wide. The nitto is a narrow tire for a 315. I have had my 315 nittos on my stock rims for a few months and they fit perfect.
