I know that 315/35/17's can fit on the stock Cobra rims, but the question is, is it safe? I know if you put to large of a tire on to small of a wheel you stress the sidewall and I do not want this, also clearance wise where does that put me? if I drop the car another 2 inches in the back will I be rubbing?

9 inch wheels should have nothing bigger than 275's.
You will get too much sidewall flex with 315's and your handling will suck.

So what would you suggest? getting some deepdish out back if I wanna go with that large of a tire?

That is exactly what I was looking at, the Nitto555 D/R on American Muscle

what car is it going on if its an IRS cobra you will want a 10.5in for a 315 to look good but you may have issues with tire rub on the rear suspension bolts so you will want to order some low profile bolts from Maximum Motorsports if you have this problem.

If you want that really fat tire look get some 10.5 rear wheels. I stick with the
9 inch wheels with 275's so I can rotate since I do a lot of highway miles.

The Nittos run narrow, thier 275's look like 255's to me. So you may be able to
go with Nittos.

Does anyone have a pic of a 315 nitto on a 9 inch wheel (17's of course). I hav 275's on mine and they are a pretty good fit. Not sure I see how a 315 can fit w/o excessive sidewall buldge and a chit contact patch for traction. Not to mention horrible middle wear.

Yeah its an 04 Cobra, I want the wider rims anyways, but wanted to see if I could get away with putting it off so I could snag my pulley .....but I guess not

Wouldn't do it, even a narrower 315 would be too wide in my opinion.

Ask and ye shall receive - see attached.

As stated, the 315/35 - 17 fit on the 9" rims very easily. They have a touch of bulge on the sidewall as seen in the pic, but that just ends up protecting your rims from curb rash.

These rims are 17X9 Cobra knockoffs.

Those are Nitto's and thats why they fit, they run smaller than most other tires. I ran 315 Nitto drags on my 18x9 saleens on my cobra with no problems but the BFG's would never fit right. 315 nitto is like a 285 in most other tires.

IF you have a 9" wheel, you can run a 315 Nitto Drag Radial.

How do they wear? More importanly, do they hook any better than a 275. Seems the 275 would have the better contact patch (no side wall buldge)

I run 315s on 03/04 Cobra Wheels with no problem but I also don't have IRS.

Handling is fine and I don't think they bulge too much to look bad.

Do you run spacers on the rears or anything? If so, did you have to roll the fender lip?

I was thinking that same exact thing, and I've BFG 275's.

I've never understood why Nitto (and a couple others) are this way either. Why can't 275 be 275, and 315 be 315? Please don't make tires like shoe shopping, where you're 13 in one brand, and 12 another...
