Hi guys,

I just got the Stang out of storage and my battery fried over the winter so I decided to get an Optima. It's really difficult to find Optima batteries around here, I managed to find a 34/78 but it is slightly to wide for the stock tray. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Graham

DO NOT GET AN OPTIMA!!!

they are the worst batteries i have ever used. once they are drained they will never charge again. i thought i had a parasitic drain on my car for 2 years and it turned out to be that POS battery not holding a charge.

this isnt an isolated incident either,i know of at least 5 local people with the same problem with optimas.

i would get an interstate battery if you want something good!

Why the Optima hate? My Red Top has been running strong for over 4 years, including subzero starts in the winter with no trickle charge and several weeks between starts. The Red Tops are not meant for deep cycling, and they will not work correctly if they are subjected to it. If you foresee needing a deep cycle battery, get the Yellow Top.

What size battery did you get the 75/35 or 34/78?

i just have never seen anyone have good luck with an optima battery. you will eventually leave your lights on and drain it sometime and after that it will never work right again

i have a yellow top that i got last fall for my cobra. i got it, drove my car to colorado (from chicago) where my car blew up and it sat for a total of a little more than 2.5 months. after sitting the car started up perfectly no issues. i then daily drove my cobra during this winters terrible cold, and it started every day with no issues or chugging, and thats with 2 straight weeks below 0 temps.

i havent used a red top before, but the yellow top is treating me fine.
