347, something other then stock block?

Just exploring my options for my quest of 11's, but are there any companies that make 347 shortblocks that arent made of the stockblock? Im not sure if im making sense but it doesnt sounds like spending money on a 347 and still only being able to support 550+- hp before it cracks. Wasnt there a R block? What about the stock 5.4 Modulars, how much power can they hold?

The R302 block just had a power downgrade. It's rated at 450HP vs. the 650HP they advertised for years. People still make good HP with them. I think it's just a numbers game there. Dart block can handle up to 1000HP. There are many non-stock blocks out there.

I am running a B50 block (Sportsman) with a all forged 347 stroker kit and a Vortech.
It makes 540rwhp and 560rwtq. I've got a killer fuel system, but knock wood she's doing fine.

That was the B50 sportsmen block that they downgraded. The R block is an awesome block, but its pricey. It has 4 bolt main caps, but I believe the outer caps dont have 4. That block could handle 800+ hp I think. Its about $1700. At that price your better off getting a dart.

Ford rates the R302 to handle 1200hp in there catalogue. And there usually pretty conservative about that. Personally I'd go with the aluminum version of the r302. Better cooling and it weighs 20 lbs less than our blocks so you win all around. However there even more...hard to find and w/ a pricetag of 2.5k there pretty pricey.
