351 cleveland in a 01 cobra?

i talked to this guy today and i told him i had a bronco with a 351 clev in it and he mentioned that i should put that in my car. i never thought a truck motor would fit.. so anyone whos got more information for me it would help thanks

No kidding... unless that 32v engine is completely dead and not worth rebuilding... sure.. go ahead... if not, then you should put this in a v6 mustang and sell your cobra... it won't be worth squat if you do this... without that cobra engine... it really isn't a cobra any more.

Why the hell would you want to put the motor from your Bronco in your Cobra!?

I guess you could swap them out and have a Broncobra......

It'll fit fine and can be a lot of fun since you can get sooooo much out of them. Until the Feds close the door on Saleen, they installed the 351s in Stangs as late as 99. It would be fun, but then you'd be back to old technology and it would bring the value of the Cobra way down.

dont care about the value, the guy who i was talking to said he raced his 10 second mustang against a 2002 mustang gt with a 351 cleveland supercharged and it waxed him... in his opinion the 289 is a ****ty motor and too small, but it doesnt matter im thinking of dumping the car now since the tranny is going and all round not to happy wit it.. i test drived a 2004 cobra today and man is there a power difference makes my car look like a v6 stang against a cobra...also test drived a 2003 lightning and does that thing take off fast its a good little truck whatever i get better financing with im goign to take, and this time i think it should be a coupe cause the conv is little bit behind it...

you should tell that guy that the little 281 cubic inch motor is making 700+ hp in the 03/04 Cobra's...Lets see him do that easily with a 351 cleveland without touching the heads or the short block...I'm thinking that wouldn't happen...

I've always wondered the same thing. I would do it only if I ever toasted my motor somehow, and as for value I really dont care either cuz its not like you'll ever get money back for the value your car is worth. Plus to me my car is priceless anyways..

yeah i know there pushing 700hp but still 289 does not compare to other engines...for instance the camaro ss always killed the cobra and that pissed me off cause i hate camaros,ford would have done better dropping a 351 in it with the technology they have now...and that guy has a 306 in his stang pushing over 700 then a 200 shot of nos, i just hate how the 289 has no bottom end,i raced an older 5.0 he had gears exhaust and maybe a couple little things i paid 40 grand for my car and lost to a car thats worth next to nothing. i really wanna look into a twin turbo not many of them around anyone know how a twin turbo cobra would compare to a supercharged one?

We don't have 289's...those were in the 60's mustangs...Our engines are 281's...
