Whell ive had an opportunity to get a 351, out of a truck, with just 30,000 on it after the reuild. It is a package deal with a bronco that i was looking at for a winter driver. Now i think eaither i will put the 351 into the bronco, which has a 5.0, or into my stang, built of corse. Now since the bottom end is fresh, what are good heads cams and intake to make a killer streetable combo. Since i drive it mostly on the street, drag once and a while. What kind of numbers will a 351 make? Now here is the killer, i need something that will pass emmissions, so i will need heads that have that. Can anyone help? or should i not even bother?

That swap is a lot of work! But if you rebuild it, consider a stroker, it's free HP. If you decide to build a stroker, I've got a stroker crank for a 351W it's 4340 steel and its got a 3.75 stroke.

I think a good streetable 351 would have:

AFR 185s
Trick Flow 5.8 intake
A cam with about .56 lift, 236*/238*, 112 LSA
70mm Accufab, 80mm Pro-M, Kooks headers and 36# injectors.

Not that I've been looking into it much. ;)

woah thanks man. What is the HP diffrence of going up in displacement like that? what are some combos good for hp wise? basically what im getting at, is it worth it even to change it over, knowing i want to supercharge what i got now? also, i dont think afr 185's are emmsiions legal. What about trick flow R heads? thans

Yeah the 185 are emmsions legal. The 205 and 225 are not. Doing the 351 swap isnt cheap. There are alot things you will ended up having to buy. It's going to be alot of $$$$$ trust me.

please tell me, damn maby ill just put the motor in the bronco like it was suposed to. What else is needed, money wise, cause im planning on building it up slowly, cause my motor in my car is fine.

I would just put the motor in the Bronco unless you are really going to build the 351 right. If you still want to put the 351W in the stang what are your plans for the car. You just put the new motor in. It will much cheaper for you to build that than do the 351.

Put it this way
Just couple parts for a 351

Heads----- Victor Jr or AFR 185 $1300ish
Bigger Heads ---- AFR 205 or TFS R series $1600ish
Intake for a 5.8 --- $500
Cam -- $200 to $350
Injectors -- depends on it if you want to do a blower on the 351 :D

Right there is over 2k with the smaller heads and off the self cam. Now take 2k and put it into your current set up. You could find a used blower for that or upgrade you H/C/I you have now. And there still is more you are going to need you the 351 if you want to do it right. Let me know what you still want to use off the 351 and I will make a list of what you would still need to buy. It's a long list if you want to do it right.

I think the hardest part of keeping the 351 emmisions legal would be finding headers that will work. You'd have to get some '95 Cobra R shorties, and I'm not even sure if they have an EGR bung on them.

You'll also need a new distributor, a longer belt and probably a custom chip. It won't be cheap, but I think it's worth it for the power gain. 400+ at the wheels should be obtainable with the right parts. (not necessarily with the parts I listed above)
