I recently found a good deal on a 351 windsor that needs rebuilding. My previous plans were to rebuild the motor with a forged bottom end that will handle nitrous very well. My question is to those who have made this swap. What parts are required to swap the 351 into a 95 gt. I know the lower intake will have to be changed but what else will have to be bought to make the swap and how much does it roughly cost. If it will cost to much I had thought about building a 306 with a good bottom end. Which way should I go.

if you do a search on this topic you will find a lot about the 5.8 swap. you need, oil pan, dizzy, conversion headers. i am not too sure of any other stuff but i think there are more things. i would go with more cubes.

for nitrious i would go 351. THe amazing amount of down low torque will work well witht he spray. For supercharged i would go 306. BUild it with a bullet proff bottom end which would allow for lots of boost. The short stroke would also allow for high revs.

i did the swap and it was on the expensive side because i had nothing to work with, plus i built a stroker. the reason i say expensive is because the car was stock when i started. had to get throttle body. maf, injectors, fuel pump, dist, headers, oil pan plus i brought aluminum heads. if you have mods already to your car its a quick and easy swap specially if you already have all the aftermarket parts on your car you can reuse and upgrade to what you really need but i had to buy everything at once. i spent about 8500 when everything was about done. also put in a tublar k member to make installing the custom long tubes from kooks easier. now my trans is about to give out. its the way to go but be prepared to beef up the rest of the car soon has you start hammering it. my 5 speed has been rebuilt, did it myself, with a stronger counter gear but its still about to go again. broke the passenger axle and installed a 9 inch. :spot: but its well worth it nothing like 570hp thats naturally aspirated

Welcome to stangnet.com. The 351W is a much stronger block. Saying that it will handle more power and hint "nitrous". You will have to get a 351W intake, oil pan, dist. off a 94-95 lightning, swap headers, extend the fuel lines between the rails, notch the battery tray, and then see what your going to do about the heads and cam issue. If you are going to move up to aftermarket heads then some other things will have to be changed as well. Let us know about the heads and other items that will be included with the 351, if you decide to make that choice.

570 HP, what is your whole setup? Thats flywheel HP, right?

naw thats at the rear wheels. 393 stroker, probe forged pistons 11.48:1 computed,afr205s with a pocket port, edelbrock victor intake, custom cam from comp with ed curtis numbers supplies. a bunch of little small things here and there. romac balancer, msd ignition system, the list is long but the main rotating assembly has been listed.
