351 swap, engine and boost questions

ah i see,

i was thinking the weight differance would be much higher

well ive got a little time to decide, you got a point there in that a 351 swap is going to offer alot more power in the short run as well as more options in the long

how is that griggs gr-40 suspensions treating you, im probably going to get one of there setups, just wondering how it is in your opinion

It is Freaken Awesome!:nice:

On the Tech forum this thread is going and I talk about it. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=731631

Go to Griggsracing.com and click on John Griggs 98 Cobra on a hill climb that he was invited to by a Local Ferrari club. There you can see 660rwhp and a great suspension at work! I guess no Ferrari has beaten his time!

Driving one with the Griggs suspension and with the Alcon brakes is quite an experience plus having the power of a supercharged 408 that sounds great going through race Borla's. Its incredible to drive!

wow just...

wow, thats just amazing in that video

between parts and labor i think i have about 2000 wrapped up in suspension and i dont particularly like it, but that looks amazing

definatly getting the SLA setup with the watts link in the rear

and the 408 sounds amazing as well

with the 408 swap does anyone know if you can keep the existing exhaust,

except the headers of course

I was talking about MY car with the 408, Griggs, and race Borlas. The Griggs car in the video is a 1998 Cobra, I'm assuming it's a Cobra motor with some sort of boost. I have no idea what kind of engine combo he is running.

They had an article a while back on Griggs, They build engines for the roadracers that win in Americon Iron. They do alot more than just suspensions.

The Griggs stuff is expensive, The rear shocks for their setup are Koni circle track shocks. $650 a pair with Heim joints. They do have a Lifetime warrany though!:)
Griggs suspension flat out works, Period. Thats about says it all.:nice:

I don't have the Watts link, when I did mine there was no way to have a Watts link and keep the exhaust to exit in the rear. I see on their web that the new 05 up can. I spent alot to have it modified to exit in the rear.

Peeps spend alot on modifying the Ford design suspension....especially in the rear. The problem is the Ford design does not work right. You have to get rid of the upper control arms. With the torque arm the traction is like night and day. Even in a straight line. My car is NOT set up to drag race, it is to handle. But it hooks up 100% better than before. At this power level its still hard to hook up, lighting the tires up on the Freeway is always fun!!!!!:D

i know you have griggs suspension in your car, just kind of got the 408 thing mixed up

silly me

ive read just about everything on there site, im pretty sure im gong to go with one of there SLA kits front and rear but its about 8000

but im sure the ride and the ability to kill almost everything on the road in terms of handling alone will be well worth it

then its "bring on the power"

i also like the idea of being able to run 315's on all 4 tires

as for the exhaust i read in your other post about the problems with the rear exit, so i guess ill just convert to side exit and use the sideskirts with the cutouts for it

i dont realy wanna do it that way but right now i have a problem with my exhaust clearing the rear axle anyways so it dosent matter realy

its going to be a while before i do the swap because i wanna do the suspension at the same time, and i dont wanna pay to have the motor pulled twice, save myself an easy 1000 bucks in redundant labor

im still going to do the transmission and the clutch first because im haveing either clutch issures or transmission issues as it is and i drive for pizza hut at the moment, in the summer i work at a concrete place plus i go to college

after the tranny is going to be a while saving up for both the motor and the suspension,

however im going to call griggs sometime this week and find out what exactly requires the engine to be out of the car and what dosent so i can but the essencial parts now and get the rest later to reduce the initial budget hit
