Has anybody done this swap i have read up on 451 carb swaps but cant seem to find anything on doing efi. What im wanting to know is what intake will clear the hood i dont wanna cut the hood up. I was thinking maybe some drop mounts would help but those would have to be fabricated. Im just trying to get as much info as i can on this swap before i get a motor. My main reason for wanting efi is because from what i can tell its alot easier to turbo than a carb. Any help uere would be great

If you're wanting EFI and a 351 to fit under the stock hood in a II, you're going to be limited to low-profile 4-bbl carbureted intake manifolds and a TBI setup such as MSD Atomic EFI, Holley Terminator EFI, Professional Products Powerjection EFI, FAST EZ-EFI, or the new kid on the block FiTech GO (which is also the cheapest).

There's not a 351 EFI intake that's going to clear. Honestly, some of the 5.0 EFI intakes don't clear, and with the 351's taller deck and the fact that most of the intakes are going to be taller, you're more-than-likely out of luck.

Aftermarket EFI is honestly not a bad solution. I've got the MSD Atomic EFI on my car. I like it a lot, though I wish I'd gone with either the Holley Terminator or the FAST EZ-EFI (having now seen all three systems in action in person), especially now that Holley bought MSD.

How well do they work for turbo applications and do they still use maf ?

MSD, Holley, and FAST will all work with boosted applications. As far as I know all three use a MAP sensor and a wideband O2 sensor instead of a MAF. For all intents and purposes, it still looks like a carbureted engine with any of the carb-replacement EFI setups.

There's mine. Mine doesn't clear the stock hood due to the 1" spacers on the motor mounts for oil pan clearance (running a Milodon 8-qt pan), combined with my Performer RPM intake, but it would with a shorter intake and without the spacers on my motor mounts.

It self-learns.
