I have done a 351W swap in my 91 LX. I was wanting to find out if anyone knows if the stock 5.0 front sway bar will fit with a dual sump oil pan. I had to take it out to put the motor in and then Katrina come through and I lost quite a few of the parts. Now I have been driving the car and it sucks horribly without a sway bar. If anyone knows if the stock sway bar will fit back on, or know of where I may find one that will fit, please let me know.

Sway bar

When I had my 351w in my 83 the dual sump pan I had rubbed on the sway bar(stock) and made it leak a little. I talked to a few people on umm corral.net and one guy suggested getting someone to cut you two pieces of metal(.50 inch thick?) with the same bolt holes as the sway bar and bolting that between the sway bar and body. Dont know how that would affect handling and such but it would clear it.

I have a stock roll bar on my 90GT and it clears the Canton 7qt pan.

Just barely though.

What oil pan are you using?

I have not heard of this being a major issue with the swap, so you should be fine.

The above shim suggestion is good if you have issues though.
Just try not to make the shim any thicker than needed.

Please come back and let us know if it clears or not.

i have a milidon pan on my 351w and have no issues with the sway bar hitting. I regularly remove and re-install for drag racing.
