Any year 351W will work. '83 and up use a one piece rear main seal, which leaks a little less than the older two piece style and can be replaced without pulling the rear cap. The earliest blocks have a slightly shorter deck height, but that's only the first 2? years or so of production.

Price for a rebuildable core could be anywhere from free to maybe $300.

69-74 were the best blocks,69-70 had a just shorted deck hieght (I forgot the exact munber).

Like said,90's 351W are set up for a roller cam.

The mounts are the same as your 302....

Did you want a specific answer about something?

I think all roller cam 351W's are F4TE blocks That's a '94 truck engineering number.

Any 351 block will work. Pre-70 deck height is 9.480". Post-70 deck height is 9.502". Both per FRPP catalog.

I have read in more than one publication that all 351W blocks are the same structurally as far as strength is concerned.

The only significant differences are.....
rear main seal type
deck height
roller vs. flat tappet cam support

All were 2 bolt main.

thats correct but 69-74 they had a higher nickel content making them stronger.

and I believe 69-70 (please correct me if I'm wrong) they had closed chamber heads.

Yea,they do have a higher nickel content but also are said (and I think its true,I got a 74' 351W block in my shop and there is a differance) they have thicker main webbing, and also the 69 block have a thicker/flatter main bulkhead,so you can effectivly use a 4 bolt main cap.And last,I think that the pan rails are probably better on the older blocks.

And I have a set of D0OE head sitting in my shop (which I was pratcing porting...think I messed up one, heheh) and I got them with the 74' block,so I dont know
