So I am about to sell the 351W and the buyer wants to know what year it is etc. I took a pic of the casting and have no idea what vintage it is.

Here is a pic of the underside of the block.

the block is a 75-80. The D4AE could be a 71-74 but later in the number you have a AA which identifies it as a 75-80 perhaps even to 83.

Deck height is going to be 9.5 not the slightly lower height of the earliest castings. You are on the cusp for heads. Do you have the head casting #?

In short, it is a run-of-the-mill 351 block, better than a 302!

No D4 is 74 If it were a 75 it would be D5 Or E0 for 80.
A=40`s
B=50`s
C-60`s
D=70`s
E=80`s and so on.
The number after is year D1 for 71
D2 for 72 and you get it from there.

Not so smart after all...

The guy never showed up and then claimed he would be by the next day. Again, no call, no show.

Back on the market again.

Thanks for the help again everyone.

well, now I have taken the motor off of your hands, so your wife can now stop " talking" about it.
