Is anyone running vintage 351W heads? Are they compatible with our engine blocks and intakes?

I got myself an engine building book for christmas, and it says that the vintage 351W heads provide a very good combination of low end torque and high end air flow. After a certain year (1972 I think), the 351Ws started getting the same heads they were using on the 302s, so they are no better.

D8 heads are good and yes they fit, you may need 1/2 reducer washers to fit those heads on the 302.

Your intake and all will bolt up as well as the heads will bolt up to the block with no problems.

The best 351W heads are the C9 & D0 heads (69 & 70). There are better heads out now, the newer E7 heads will be comparable to the 351's. And yes the mid 70's 351 & 302 heads are the same. The 351 heads have larger head bolt holes.

so you are saying that my ported stock heads are similar to the vintage 351s, right? if so, then i will stop thinking about finding 351s.
