so my dad has a 67 gta coupe w/ a 390. he recently broke off the rocker arm shaft and is contemplating what to do. i said go with new crane roller rockers and such, but his buddy who is a parts guru said to go with all shelby stuff. then his other mechanic buddy said go all original. i mentioned to him that edelbrock makes aluminium heads for his car...and now that is in his consideration what do you guys think he should do? here are some pics of the damage and what exactally is broken. how much and what is needed if he was going to do the edelbrock heads? has anyone done it here? thanks in advance

he has a 428 cj cam with what i believe is stock springs. the car was running like a bat outta hell then boom...it blew. also the middle pushrod in the top pic is bent so badly it wont come out of the head

Sounds like it could be fixed with stock parts if you want to save money.

Anything above that would be fun factor.

true true. im just trying to find out what it would take to get aluminium heads complete with all valvetrain components

I do not really think those are stock springs and retainers.

That is normally a failure seen when running reasonably high spring pressures.

At any rate, the fix is any rocker set up that incorporates end stands. Erson is a good example that includes needle-bearing fulcrums.
