I remember hearing on here that a 302 crank and pistons, and then stock 351w rods would net you 39x cubes on a 351? Can anyone verify that?

Also... since the 87-92/93 5.0s came stock with the forged pistons, would the ultimate cheapo route be some sort of "stock replacement late model 5.0 piston, some used 351w truck rods, and some sort of 302 crank (sure I could find one sorta cheap)? Just seeing what my options are.

All right except you need a 3.85 stroke crank.

The 393 stroker is considered a 'budget' stroker engine because the lack of expensive parts needed to do it.
The only specialty part you need is the crank. It is available in cast iron, so you can find it very reasonably priced.
After that, you just reuse your stock rods and some 'off the shelf' 30 over 302 pistons.
Basically you add ~30 cubic inches for the price of a stock rebuild plus $300 for the crank. Not bad at all!
Dave

EDIT: Just to clarify, this rebuild starts with a stock 351w short block. The only 302 parts are the replacement pistons after you bore the block. A 0.030" overbore = 393 cubes.

Just Mack Brown, really, at the moment. What a pathetic human being.

I expect Cal to handle TT just fine, I'm just hoping my horns don't embarrass themselves again as they do so often in bowl games.

Don't hate Mack, I'm not a huge fan of his either, hate the corrupt politics of NCAA football and the BCS.

if the coaches hadn't voted corruptly, then we wouldn't have had this problem. One coach had Texas #2 and Cal #8... wonder who that coulda been...

When you're a team thats only good once every 10 years or so, it'd be nice if you wouldn't get screwed that one year :/
