Hello everyone,
I am installing a 3G (PA performance conversion) in my 78 King Cobra. I don't want to butcher it too much.

There is a green wire from the back of the 3g alternator, where is everyone wiring the green wire into.
Supposed to be a 12v switched source it looks like.
Additionally, there is a white choke wire. Does this splice into the white alternator wire and plug into the back of the alternator?

Can I remove the entire harness that connects to the original alternator?

I have been searching threads but for some reason my head is spinning on the procedure.
I believe i have thought myself into a circle of doom. haaa

I would really appreciate any recommendations.

Thank you very much.

You've probably already run across my short thread, but here's what I had to share about it:

LILCBRA said:
All I did was follow the instructions that came with the kit. Obviously, the heavy gauge goes to the battery, then one wire attaches to the positive lead on the alternator, one lead attaches to another point on the alternator, and the last lead attaches to one wire in the original harness. Then you replace the regulator with the new one, which is supposed to do whatever voodoo it does so the ammeter works like it's supposed to. At least that's how I understood it. You'll need this kit:

PA Performance Mustang 1G to 3G Plug Upgrade 462802C1

Upgrade from factory 1G alternator to 3G style and retain your factory wiring and gauges.

Their instructions are provided in a link toward the bottom of the page.

I can take a look at my car tomorrow to see if I can help a little more.

Something that I'll add that I didn't mention in that thread is that the V belt pulley didn't have enough contact with the belt to turn the alternator reliably, so I got a lot of squealing. I ended up going with a serpentine style and the problem went away. Just something to keep in mind....
