Hello all. I was thinking of getting 4.10's but have a few questions:

1) The only mods i have done are intake + tune (sct x-cal 2)(brenspeed) and slp loudmouths... Will i need to modify any of the tunes for these if i buy them?

2) Will i need to get a special tune for my rpm meter at all.

3) Will i notice faster quarter times at all?

4) I heard gas millage will go down significantly, how significant will the drop be?

5) How much would it take to get these bad boys installed?

Thanks to all who view and reply.

you can use the SCT to adjust for the gears.

slightly faster 1/4 times as long as you hook, and not spin the tires.

gas mileage is not affected much. dont worry about the difference.

go to a good reputable shop that has worked on S197s. they are a little more fussy with the gear set-up. insatll coulad be up to $600, depending on where you go. some have gotten them instaled for as little as $200.

I really enjoy my 4.10's.

The 200 more RPM's in 5th gear are well worth the loss in gas.

Do not skimp on the install!
Make sure you go to a shop that has lots of experience..... or else you'll end up with a bad set up and a whole lot of whine.

As for the tune, with your Xcal 2, its a snap to change the program.

ENJOY!!!!

I have the same set up as you and you will notice a huge difference with the gears. I paid 375 for the install with me providing a new bearing. I purchased my gears from Brothers Perf. but there are lots of places for you to choose from . Go with FRPP and a good installer and you should be very happy.

absolutely go with Ford gear set - DO NOT Skimp on gears, otherwise you risk nasty noises, it will sound like a banshee is living in your trunk. I made the mistake of going with motive the first time - had to have them replaced with the Ford OEM set. Big difference.

I'm thinking Ford racing 3.73's or 3.90's for mine since I do a good amount of highway driving...
What kind of 1/4 mile gains can one expect for these, and for the 4.10's (approx).
Thanks.

That depends on whether you have a manual (3.55's) or an auto (3.31's). With the auto you'll pick up a couple of tenths and with the manual a little less. With 4.10's.....2750 or so rpm's @80mph (manual).....3000 rpm's @80mph (auto).

I have a mechanic that said he would do the job. Do you have the website and part number of the 4.10's I want to make sure I get the same exact ones your guys are talking about. Also how do you adjust the gearing in your xcal2? Thanks guys!

I purchased from Brothers Performance and they price matched GEF Racing, but both of these are great places to buy FRPP 4.10's.

As far as your Xcal, just plug it in, then choose modify tune, then scroll down to axle ratio and switch to 4.10's, save and load modified tune.
