i just got finished installing the 4.10's in my stang, and i am going to be honest i figured it would be a waist of time to switch from 3.73 to 4.10...but i was very much surprised. they made a world of difference i would have never imagined. my friend gave me the 4.10's and convinced me to put them on and now that i have driven it i am so glad he talked me into this. i cant wait to get my vt stage 1 cams in this weekend. also does anyone know how many rpms i would be doing at about 70? with a stock t-45??i havent gotten my white 23 tooth gear in yet so i dont know how far off my speedo is

They're fun huh? I almost wish I went with somethin alittle lower. My car just isn't fast enough for me. It needs more bottom end. I got that white speedo gear 23t and my speedo is still about 5mph fast. I dont know what im gonna do to fix that crap. Just racks the miles on. =/

You should be around 2550 rpm at 70 mph with the 4.10 and T45. To be honest with you thou the 23 tooth sprocket will not completely correct your speedo. I would just get a speed cal. The teeth from the 23 gear will get eaten up over time.

I got the 23 tooth speedo gear after I got my 4.10s ....Its about 3 mph off when you are at lower cruising speeds (30-40) and about 5-6 mph off when you get up to highway speed ... I tested it with another car after I installed just to see how far off it was ...Doesnt bother me too much ...I just didn't feel like buying the speedcal

is your tranny stock? i got one out of a 98 cobra and it has a different tailshaft gear. i was told it would be right on as far as accuracy? anyone have any experiences with that?

A buddy of mine (Coramprat) had 4.10 with the T45. He did the 23 tooth sprocket thing and it helped but it still is inaccurate. The only way to totally correct a speedo ina 96-98 GT or cobra is to use the speedcal. It bothers some people and others aren't worried about it.

You will be fine. Depending on how you drive it really is not too bad. Corampat drives roughly 140 miles round trip to work and I think he said it added an extra 1,000-2,000 miles over a course of a year. I am not sure if I am correct thou, but it was in that area. This should give you a general idea.

yep ...it's the stock tranny ...I was expecting it to still be off b/c afterall, they sell the same 23 gear for 3.73s I believe (could be wrong) ...But, I didn't feel like I needed a speedcal when a $15 plastic gear will get you close

My odometer was off by 10% with the 'white' speedo gear. So at 40 I was doing 44, 50 iwas at 55, 60 I was at 66 and so on. For every 10 miles I would register 11 so after a while it adds up. Like kboy said I drive 140 miles a day so I was putting 14 extra miles on...added up to like 2500 miles in a year.

I bought a Speedcal a few months ago and when I went to put the old orange gear back in for the speedcal, the white ones was all chewed up. I don't think it would have lasted another 1000 miles. I think Mr Vax said he had been through 2 or 3 before he went ahead and bought the Speedcal. My suggestion is to go ahead and get one. Makes all the difference to me.
