Hey guys, been a long time since I posted last, but I'm back playing with Stangs. Specifically, I just bought my son a 2000 v6 Stang that we're going to fix up so he can have a car starting next summer. I got it for $800 with bad heads. Well, I pulled the intake and heads...to find rust all over the cam and inside the engine. I don't feel like rebuilding it, so I started looking into swapping engines and the 4.2 is an easy swap for more CI & Hp. Now, I've read the FAQs on other forums (was surprised that I didn't see it posted here!), but they only talk about F150 4.2Ls. So....
Does anyone know if there are differences in engine mounts and such between the RWD platforms (like the F150) and the FWD platforms (like the Freestyle)? I've found a few 4.2s, but the ones that have the fewest miles in my search are from the Freestyles. There aren't any Freestyles local to me that I can go look and see if the mounting is different, the best/lowest mile 4.2 I found is about a 3hr drive (which I don't feel like driving that far just to look). So, does anyone know?
Thanks.
