Finishing up my car, I have 5 point harnesses in the car. The shoulder straps are mounted to the cage behind the seats.

I was sitting in my car today, fitting the seat belt....I could see these becoming a pain in the ass for street driving.

Anyone here use 4 or 5 point harnesses in their street cars? advice? opinions?

i was wondering the same thing... if you have a cage, keep em in. is your car a daily driver? i drive mine maybe 1-2 times a week, thats why im keeping the harness in. it's really how you feel with them. drive around for a couple weeks and if you get sick of them take em out and put the stockers in.. GL :nice:

Safety Concern

Do not use 4 or 5 pt. belts w/o a cage or roll bar.....

4 and 5 point harnesses may look cool but they are extremely dangerous without a cage or rollbar!

Think about it for a second...
If you happen to roll the car and you are "strapped" in an upright position without a cage or roll bar you will be crushed..

With a 3 pt. belt (no cage/rollbar) in a rollover your upper body will be able to move or be forced into the area inside your car below the roofline.
Thus increasing your chances for survival :nice:

Do people just reply to the title and not read the post? those last to posts were a waste of space in this thread, thanks to the others though. I agree about the seats. I think if I had some different seats it would all fit a bit nicer.

Yea, I think it would look better if you had seats with the slots for the harness, but it might still look ok with stock style seats. I'm going to have to use a harness with the stock seats for a little bit cuz of the track's rules and I'm sure other people have to do the same. Does anybody have pictures of a harness on a stock seat so we can have a visual?

I actually dont have stock seats....they have the slots for the straps....they are just kinda cheap...and the lap belt doesnt fit very naturally with the way the seat is contoured....

I think with stock style seats you can put the straps in-between the seat and headrest.

EXCUUUUUUSSEEEE Me!
My apologizes..
I assure you that I had good intentions..
I did read the post and I missed the part about the cage.

I probably jumped on this to quickly as I have seen so many people installing/wearing 4 and 5pt harnesses w/o a cage..
You may go back to your hall monitor duties.:jester:
