4.6 vs 5.0 (PROS AND CONS)

ok guys, i have a paper to write for my english lit class. i got to pick the topic, but it has to be something vs something with pros and cons.... maybe u guys can help me write my paper?? :D well, i dont expect you all to write my essay for me. just give me some good ideas. remember, pros and cons for both. ok, lets see the brainstorming . thanks for any help guys!!!

Here comes a chitstorm so get your toilet papered umbrellas.

5.0 = dinosaur that's very cheap to mod
4.6 = efficiency and ungodly power potential when blown.

Both will go down in history with the type of power they can or have made.

pro con

5.0 pros:
intakes- everything from stump puller torquers to 8000+rpm dual quad tunnel rams.
cams- same plus variable duration lifters.
full roller rockers tip and fulcrum.
heads- stock good for 260 hp. everything up to yates canted valve heads. canted valve heads don't shroud and don't rely on laminar flow as much. 4 valve pushrod heads available.
short stroke large bore. low piston velocities = bullet proof. I ran a stock crank to 6900 for years. still have it and motor in garage ready for action if i get tired of trying to make power with thid car.
a million choices for transmissions. SROD(sucked) top loader, t5 and all older autos.
aftermarket blocks that handle 1500 hp not too expensive.
stoker to 340 CU.IN
can kick LS anything ass for less money.
rebuild part to include low tension rings low priced.
a million fuelie parts. nitrous of all kinds cheap.
simple cheap carb blowers available.
simple, easy to access bolt on's.
sounds cooler.

down sides limited to factory block strength.

monster bottom end torque that 4.6 can only dream of.
great fuel ecomony
for the money we will spend on a KB blower, 5.0 can be built for as much naturally aspirated HP. for example 400 RWHP

weiand tunnel ram single 850cfm holley
twisted wedge heads
MSD 7al ignition w/rev limiter
full length 2" race stepped header w/3.5" collector muffler
x303 cam
1.7 ratio full roller crane rockers.
11:1 compression forged pistons
steel crank, rods
you get idea.
price is close

disclaimer: these statements are not the opinions of management

The most important:

5.0 - Til '93 .. forged internals.

4.6 - Powdercoated internals.

If you search you'll find TONS more info than this thread will generate.

I thought only the cobras in 93 had forged internals
i might be wrong

thats the thing

5.0 cheap to build a ton of power but the block is weak
maybe 500-600hp

4.6 you can build at least 1000 horse out the block
but it will take you at least half of what the car cost to get there

"five point oh" sounds alot cooler than "four point six". Just my opinion.

tech
SOHC Modular Motor beats out old, cam-in-block technology for coolness
I remember drooling over the 427 SOHC motor from 'back in the day' - way ahead of it's time. Now we all have OHC in our V8s, though displacement is down...a lot. :D
