Hi All,

I just purchased a couple 1999 Mustang GT PI Heads along with the PI Intake Manifold, Injectors, Plenum, Fuel Rails etc... The problem Im having is finding any documentation on the 99 PI head swap. I am planning on putting these on my 1996 GT. However, Ive been told by a couple people that there are some subtle differences I need to keep in mind while doing the swap. If anyone has done this particular swap on their vehicle I would appreciate any information you can give me about the necessary changes needed. I just want to make sure all the sensors and fuel lines and that kind of stuff match properly or if I need any additional equipment before I start ripping off the old heads.

Thanks,

head swap

i just finished the head swap today. make sure you stay with the same heads (ex. if you have romeo stay with romeo heads.) the install is not that bad. take your time and double and triple check everything when you put it back on. if you have a haynes manual use it, it is a PITA to torque the heads. (31 lbs, then 90 deg., then one full turn back, then 31 lbs, then 90, then 90. i had a problem with my car not wanting to start after i drove it for 50 or so miles. had to spray starting fluid. ( i think its the MAS). make sure you have 2 gallons of anti-freeze, a bottle or 2 of power steering, new head gaskets, new head bolts, new spark plugs(i think autolite 745), oil filter, and new oil. keep track of all the bolts and where they go. (i suggest getting ziploc sandwich bags and putting the bolts in the bags and label them. the new oil dipstick is a bitch, put it on at the same time as the driver side head. if you are keeping the motor in the car undo the 4 exhaust manifold bots on the back (2 on each side) and take the exhaust manifold off with the heads. if you need a step by step guide go to bossracing.net (i think) and they have a tech article about it. and last but not least have a friend help and plan for about 20 to 30 hours just to be sure. if you need anything else just let me know and i will try to help w/ advice.
