Alright guys Im looking to finally get a notchback its a 1988 4 cylinder and I have some big plans for it. Has anyone ever swapped a newer 4.6l in a fox? Is it even possible? I figured it would be cause a 5.0 is a bigger block I assume. Could I just take a new wiring harness from a 1996 and up mustang and re wire pretty much everything. I want a v8 and I got a great deal on the 4.6

I tried searching so I apologize if this has been covered. would I need custom mounts or could I just buy factory mounts for a 4.6.

thanks for the info

its all good. I had another idea of a supra engine a 1jzgte instead of its bigger brother but I know this isn't the best thing to talk about unless I want to get bitched at.

Check out the thread on the Fox 5.0 talk page by Madmike "89 2v notch (89mach1)", he's got a 4.6 in that bad boy.

Most engine swaps are cool to me if they are done well but ya I'd rather see a V8 in a stang!

Have you been living under a rock? Mod motor swaps have been done a million times a million different ways. 2V, 3V, 4V, Termi engines, 5.4L Lightning engines, and now even the Coyote engine has been swapped into a Fox. Spend a little more time on google, the info is out there, everywhere. Or, just go to the store and pick up a Mustang magazine. At any given moment, one of those mags is in some stage of doing a mod swap into a Fox.

Also, the 4.6L is actually larger than the 5.0L. OHC will do that.

Here's two builds from the same guy, just right here on StangNet. The search function is pretty helpful.

Someone should do a 4.6 with a Kenne Bell, since everyone says the KB is so much better on a 4.6, why not swap in a 4.6 and put on a KB?

The KB's are a little too much for the 4.6L engines I used. They'll hold up with low boost, but then they struggle to make over 400rwhp. Most are stuck at 360 to 380 to live. To me, those numbers aren't worth the coin that a KB costs.

A Vortec would be the best blower for either combo and easily make over 400rwhp with around 8lbs on the 4V and around 10lbs on the 2V. Both will hold up with a Vortec.

I didn't do it simply because I built these cars to be cost effective so I could make a few dollars profit off of them.
