You can run a sway bar, but it's a little extra work.
Couple ways to do it, use an sn95 bar which mounts under the frame, not inside.
Or leave the one good sway bar mount (only one needs to be cut off), make a spacer to lower that side and have a chassis shop fabricate the other other.
Basically the fox bar just needs to be mounted lower to clear the alternator.

The sn95 works, but people complain about wide wheels hitting it before full turn.

As far as getting a non PI and making one, i don't see the point.
2v's of any type are cheap.
Combine the cost of the PI heads and intake, with head bolts and gaskets, and i can't see it being worth the effort when starting from scratch.

Very true. I figured out how to run a sway bar on my fox with the 4v. Actually, you're the guy who told me that the Terminator alternator is what got in the way of the sway bar. lol...haven't been on here in a while and I couldn't remember who it was.

What I did was I used a fox body bar, and 94-04 sway bar mounting brackets. This lowered the sway bar almost 2 inches and it worked perfectly. So happy I got it on there for my friend who bought it from me.

Yea, I just can't see the benefit of any N/A 4.6 swap into a Fox. More complex, less displacement, and dollar for dollar a HCI pushrod is cheaper and easier and is probably going to outrun a 4.6 with the same kind of money invested. It really just boils down to the uniqueness factor.

Now, a Termi motor is a whole new ballgame.

Yeah, I did it for the coolness factor, plus you know me, I got all the parts here if I need something, I just run out and grab it.

stick 1500 into a 4.6 2v or early 4v and stick 1500 into a 5.0/5.8 roller cam motor , see what runs better, and also you forgot to mention the torque numbers, i stick by what i said, 2v 4.6 is diff in a fox but useless. 4v motors are a much better way of doing it, i have had both worlds and speak from experience

"Stick 1500 into this and 1500 into that" arguement can go on for days. I have had both worlds myself and speak from experience as well, so I don't know why you'd even write a comment like that. I'll take a mod-fox (no matter the HP numbers) over a 5.0L fox day of the week.

madmike1157 said:
So then is the 4v engine wider than the 2v engine, or do they move the heads in and make the distance between the intake ports narrower?

Yes the motor is wider...well...the heads/cam covers. I really had to be careful dropping the car onto the engine/trans/suspension combo. The fox sway bar brackets want to hit the valve covers up front where the cam/timing chain gears are. So I moved the motor forward, dropped the car down on it, then used a forklift to push it back where it needed to be. This way it cleared the sway bar brackets without scratching up my valve covers. I did not have this problem with the 2V. That body dropped right onto that motor/trans/suspension combo.

Of course it would. Stock for stock or exhaust for exhaust one car makes about 230-250 at the wheels. The other is gonna make 180-200 at the wheels. Plus doing a mod swap, you're putting a more powerful drivetrain into a much lighter vehicle.

My notch with the 2V made 241RWHP and I took out a couple 3V 05+ GT's with exhaust. Those cars are 315HP at the crank, mine was 260. We both had exhaust, but my car was lighter, so I put a length on them. I didn't win by much at all, but it sure shocked the hell out of them. It was a lot of fun driving around in that old car with newer stuff in it.

he was shocked that a notchback beat him? why
a notch with 302and bolt ons and gears will give a mostly stock 3v a smacking.
like i said before the stock vs stock thing go ahead and take that 20 hp more ill take the 50 more foot lb of torque . and there is no stock 2v that makes 250 to the wheels , like i said a stuffing even a heavly modded 2v in a foxbody is stupid, and not worth the money, when you can put half that money into the right combo for that car and have a faster and stronger setup

If you were in my garage, you'd be alone.

What part makes you ill? The fact that it's not the same 5.0 that everybody else has? YAAWWWNNN!

Give me a break.

If putting a Ford motor in another Ford, Let alone another Mustang engine in a Mustang makes you ill, You must have to be resuscitated when somebody puts a Chevy motor in one.

I think you're alone, yea. While I might not have the desire to do it myself, it absolutely doesn't bother me that others do it.

lol 108 on stock cam on a 5.0 lol are you kidding me? lol so thats a low 13 second on a stock cam hmm lets see i had a 85 coupe with 410s 4cy suspension and drag radials with a eddy intake and 600 carb and i ran 112 trap speeds at 12.9s , do you want me to find the millions of other 5.0 owners that run faster?

im not trying to offend any 2v owners i have had them myself, but if you want to do a cool swap and you want it to be fast do a 4v swap at least or even a 3v. every 2v guy i have met has wanted to ditch there 2 v to build a 4v motor

Umm, what does a stock cam have to do with it?
It's certainly easier to change the cam in your car than it is to put a 2v engine in it.

HCI>stock 2v any day.
And cheaper.

It always comes down to the bottom line here.

Same bottom line every time: For all of the trouble, and expense, given the resulting power It's not worth the time spent doing it.

Well hows this for a reason?

I could give a rats ass that it won't make 500 HP w/o HCI and then have to add the internals to insure it's survivablilty.

None of them will.

I didn't go out looking for one,

I had it sitting in the corner, begging me to replace the worn out 4 cyl that came in the car.

The RPM/power band is higher on this engine, and revving it to get there is part of the fun of driving it.

It is different.

And it looks cool sitting in that engine bay, taking up big block space despite the 281 cubic inches it displaces internally.

So................
Do I care that It that it was a pain in the ass to install?
Nah, it's already in there. I can barely remember the pain.

Do I care that it won't/don't make the same power per dollar as the cheaper 5.0.?

Nope. I've had my fill of taking a perfectly good running stock engine, and modding it to P.I.T.A. to drive, so that it gets relegated to week end only driving.

Will I wish that I had installed a 4v in its place instead of my poor little 2v?

Yep, but my back pocket thanks me every time I look at the price tag on an Aluminator or New 5.0.

AND for those not looking to offend any 2v owners, then maybe a better choice of words than "stuffing even a heavily modded 2v in a foxbody is stupid" might be considered next time.

Despite the fact that I have plenty of stupid stories to tell, I am far from stupid.

I'm done with this arguement. It's full of haters. I've done it before, I know what's better and cooler. I know what gets people attention at car shows and what doesn't.

I hope you don't consider me a hater! I respect the 4.6L, and I respect the effort it takes to do a clean swap into a Fox, something you've proven yourself capable of twice.

Just for me, strictly from a cost and effort per performance standpoint, I would have a hard time justifying swapping one into my Fox. There are other engines I'd consider swapping first, but I am by no means a hater.

No, I don't consider you a hater. I've known you a long time, we've PM'd, I think I even sold you a part and you paid me Pay Pal. You're a well respected member I like talking to.

I guess that I'm just much different than the rest of the Stangnet world. I keep forgetting that I have many opportunities to buy these fox bodies and the donor cars necessary for the swap. AND....the biggest thing is that I am not taking a nice car that I currently own and tearing it apart for a mod-swap. I am taking cars that are solid, yet, very rough and on their way to being parted out and scrapped. I'm starting from nothing and building them up with parts from a car that are also going to be parted out and scrapped. While I still pay for both cars, and do the work myself I have less money into them than other would. Believe me, I still have a decent chunch invested but I'm saving more than others would have to spend.

I don't have much experience with pushrod 5.0's, but is it possible that part of the attraction to doing a 2V mod motor swap has to do with driveability?

A 2V PI mod motor w/ >10:1 compression, ported heads, and stage 2 N/A cams will lay down close to 300 RWHP and still exhibit excellent road manners. The mod motors run very smooth, even cammed they seem to run quite smooth and efficient making them very easy to drive even when heavily modified.

Would a 300 RWHP 5.0 pushrod also exhibit excellent road manners? No sarcasm/disrespect intended, I'm just curious
