4 wheel disk foxes in here

The booster is rarely necessary, and if for some unknown reason you do need it, you can get this vacumm canister (forgot the brand, maybe crane) and it's 10 times easier to install.

Gutting the PV is mandatory or the brakes won't work right. The will however work.

Make sure to use a motorsport PV plug for the front after you gut it, because the stock one has a rubber piece in the center that will leak.

If you think it is rarely needed, why would Ford put a larger Booster with 4 wheel discs when it would cost them more money? The bean counters and penny watchers would never let it off the drawing board if a regular booster was just fine! Its best to do everything at once so you dont have to go back and do it a 2nd time and create more work for yourself!

i wouldn't go so far to say that is it rarely needed, but more like advisable to replace it, but not completely imperative

i still have my stock booster, and my car stops a whole helluva lot better than it ever did before with the new 95 fronts, and SVO rears. the way i figure it though, if i have alot better brakes and an awesome booster, i've got a greater potential to lock up my brakes during an emergency stop...i dunno about you, but i don't like flat spots on my tires. just me though...then again, i've driven several non power assisted four wheel drum cars...you think our brakes suck? try driving one of them, yes they are valved to stop with a "reasonable" amount of effort, but it will still take more effort than a vehicle with power assist.

oh, and if the "regular" booster was "just fine" then, the bean counters more than likely would allow it to pass through, creating yet another for us to bitch about our cars...I think I got what you meant, but, the wording may've been a little off.

at any rate, yes, it's always a better idea to do all those types of mods at once, instead of piecemeal, but hey, it's his car, if it works for him, more power to him..

just my opinion

There are very few automotive engineers amoung us, and probably none with specific 5.0 brake experience. Re-engineering the brake system with a part from here and a piece from there makes for lots of variables that can mean one car works fine with the stock booster and another one doesn't. Judging pedal effort with these modded cars is a little like being a judge at a beauty contest. It's a great job, but how do you choose? :D

The differences from car to car come into the picture as well. I am firmly convinced that by this time in their life cycle, no two cars are alike in their manners. Wear, time and changes to everything but the Ford blue oval make each one unique and respond differently to modification.

I have the 73 MM calipers up front. 94 Mustang M/C, Turbo Coupe rear axle with disks and a adjustable proportioning valve. I also have a remain stock booster. The pedal effort is just where I like it, but that's a subjective judgement too.

Why do you guys think the baer kit doesn't come with a booster?

And i will go as far as to say rarely. I've watched Big Daddy install, a 100 sets of baers over the years, and 1 time, that's right, only once did they have a vacumm probelm. And instead of getting another booster they used a reserve canister. Turns out to be a cam issue.

Crane vacuumm link

I don't think the brembo kit comes with a booster either.

Jricker has a point.
What's someone likes and what someone needs are 2 completely different subjects.

i am familiar with that thing. it doesn't leak it shoots out like a rocket

The BAER Kit did not come with one because it was designed that way. If you are running Ford SN95 Brakes all the way around on your car, it is only common sense to take the Booster and M/C with it as they were Designed for them.

A baer kit is nearly the same for the sn95 as the fox, except it mounts to a modified fox spindle. Same calipers.

great analogy about the judge at a beauty contest-and agreed, just about everyone on here makes their car to their liking, not to cater to someone else's needs...with certain few exceptions
