So a new crank and rods... Did you go with a stroker or is it a stock stroke?

It's stock stroke.
The bore was already .30 and in good shape so they bored it to .34 and ordered custom rings.

They are going to prime the engine bay tomorrow. I'll look at it Monday or Tuesday next week.
The boss wasn't around so I talked to the two guys working on it. They will do the metal work and skim coating and primer before they hand it off to paint. According to them it will be three weeks of skim/sand/prime before it goes to paint. So, I'm going to get the engine home and then go fishing for a while just to throttle back the anticipation.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I can pick up the engine Thursday. But, I'm going fishing so I'll pick it up next week. The body shop wants the motor installed soon so they can fabricate the hood for clearance. That means they want to install it. I'm not wild about that. But, If I bring it home to do it myself then it falls out of the paint line and delays the whole project. (There is a 427 vette behind me; see pic below)
So to expedite the process I think I'll pick up the motor and install the starter, flywheel, clutch and bell in the back of my truck. Then grab the PS pump, mounting brackets and lines, motor mounts and the headers, and bring it over to the body shop and offer my assistance/supervision on the install.
That way I don't need to pay for two tows and rental of a hoist. They will ding me for shop labor though.
What do you think? I may get to drive it by Labor Day with luck.

Here's one way to look at it: if they scratch or ding the fresh paint, it's on them to fix it. I'd say do it.

When you say waiting for steel is that for the rusty drivers rear quarter?

Great thread! I screen shot your motor build so I can copy. Did you end up rebuilding your power steering? Or buying a new one? Mine leaks, and I don’t feel like messing with it.

I'm not Enzio, but there is an upgrade possible which I used:
You can also get the fox body steering rack (1 piece aluminium housing). It's much lighter and smaller than the Mustang II rack and it fits with offset steering rack bushings which are available...
Perhaps you need custom hoses, but that can be done by yourself with AN fitting and braided steel hoses or you can also have them manufactured for your, if you like to tackle this.

Cool. I debated a long time on what to do. The guys here were very helpful and really know their stuff. I basically took their combined ideas and wrote them down and brought them to a pro who builds racing engines. With the Corona Crappola and very little racing going on they were very thankful for the work. Picked it up today and brought it home.
