Funny..

I went down to hang at a local cruise night last night and we see a red '01 pull in to the crowd with us stangers that we've never seen before. Nice clean car but then the guy opened his mouth and what a mess..

He started off by telling everyone around him that he's pushing 400-450 HP with no power adders he says: "it's all motor" .. I walk in to the group and listen..

He then goes on to say his motor is "built" to get this HP with Cams, Port and Polish and finished with a good tune... I then ask him what else he did.. He then say's he doesn't know the details but a cousin did the work and assured him that it's over the 400 HP mark without a Dyno run or anything...

And then get this, he tried to pawn off all other questions to his girlfriend who is the "expert" on the car when paired up with the cousin who did the work in his garage at home.. She goes on babbling about cutting up the exhaust and buying mats on EBAY..

Then, to remove all doubt as to their ignorance, as I'm leaving they say "Your exhaust sounds quiet" compared to thier cobra.. (We both have the same MagnaFlow cat back) So they start up their car and give it a rev.

Everyone in the crowd looks at them with a "u got nothing" stare as they revved the engine.. It was so obvious that It still had the Cats and all... And then I noticed how I didn't even see any engine roll from his "special" racing Cams while the hood was open and her revving it ... total BS

The only mod visible to anyone in the engine bay was a homemade CAI. I could even see that there weren't headers on this "450 HP" car..

The BS was flowing last night..

wow total
I've had that happen to me a few times. I had this one guy pull up in his Hyundai (yea, a friggin Hyundai) and claim it to be a 350hp (at the FRONT wheels!! hahahaha) rally car. He had these huge gay vinyl numbers on the side, huge wing, rice exhaust, you know the whole 9 yards. It gets worse, he said that he couldnt pop the hood because he lost the key for the hood pins....... such a liar. So, one of my buddies slid under the car when he wasnt looking......rusty STOCK exhaust manifold.....STOCK piping... aftermarket oil pan and muffler...... THATS IT! He got caught uner his car, and the guy tried to start a fight. He just laughed at him. Best part... this is supposedly a rally car right? Then why is it 2.5" off the ground and have neon underbody lighting? hahah such a liar.... he did have aftermarket suspension... but the camber and everything was way off for a "rally car"

Best ever was a show in early summer....guy had (are you ready?) duct tape all over the engine. Wrapped his spark plug wires and just about anything else you can imagine in duct tape.

So, someone asked him with a straight face what that was for.....he said it was for looks. I thought he was going to say it reduced underhood temps or something.

I've heard of a few guys on SN here that are getting up there in HP.. (Like around 380)..

to see one of those motors in person I'm sure most people in here would notice the work that has gone into it, and the person with the vehicle would know how to talk it up without squirming...

BTW
If I had a bottomless wallet my plan would most likely be to squeeze as much as possible from my N/A engine before heading in the direction of a power adder.. but until then I'll just keep savin my pennies.

That’s a good one, but it doesn’t beat the time I had a ricer tell me his 5.0 stang had a supercharged transmission.

Actually I know another great hack stang owner from around here in RI/SE Mass..

There's a guy who goes to all the local carshows with his....

GT V6 ..

The vanity plate says "MYGTV6" ... He gets in arguements all day at the shows stating that his car is a "GT" with a V6. I even heard him telling some kid that his car came off the same assembly line as the GT's but they mistakenly put a "GT" rearend in his when it was built at Ford (which makes it as fast as a GT).. He poses as a ricer with a painted piece of a broomstick proppin the hood up as well

Oh, And his car is covered in EVERY piece of crap you can by at AutoZone.. Including a bug shield on the hood that he has stuck vinyl racing stripes to when he striped his whole car which is full of bubbles.. (black car with gray autozone racing stripes).

The final thing that is hysterical is a picture he puts near the car. it shows the car surrounded by about 100 trophies. Everyone who has looked at the picture swears that there are a few bowling trophies in the shot.

This guy is a piece of work..

On a sad note.. I've seen the car get trophies, some people just vote for the outrageous..

the highest ported head, aftermarket cam and intake 4.6 is 370 SAE.

http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=515518

if you wanrt more than that NA out of a modular, you're going to need additional cubes. open the aftermarket wallet REAL wide (not that heads, cams, and intake is cheap for a 4.6)
