I can get a great deal on a truck 460/e40d transmission. I was wondering if anyone has used those fox 460 swap kits in a sn95? motor mounts, oilpan, headerss. Also, has anyone ever seen an adaptor for a T-5/TKO/small block transmission to a 460? Thanks!

I've seen pictures of it in MM&FF on the internet. Beware, big block Ford performance parts are expensive.

Thanks, yeah ive seen the swap kits....headers/mm/oilpan but i wanted to know if anyone has found an adaptor to hook up a tremec or t-5 to a bigblock?

As far as performance parts, for now I would probably leave it with stock heads, maby a mild cam and efi intake for now.

I think it would be fun to have that down low grunt that I dont have now, and I can get a great deal on it

a 460 would murder a t5. 550 ft/lbs is easy to make with stock heads

You might get away with a TKO-600. Might brake that too though.

talk about a crowded engine compartment ..

that would be sweet though

i know they make adapter plates to connect an AOD to a BBF 390FE, so i am confident you can find an adapter for your 460 as well. i have looked into it for my faitlane

keep in mind that what will break it is more how you drive it than simply having the 460 in there. if you drive it normally for the most part, then your transmission will probably live longer than some might think. but power shifting at the dragstrip is likely to make it give up the ghost pretty quickly.

thanks guys, I allready have a tremec tko, so im not too worried about breaking it. I have contacted a bunch of adaptor companys and it seems that noone makes an adaptor plate. I wonder if you can get a bellhousing that will make the swap work?

As far as the engine bay being tight....believe me, its REAL tight now with the twin turbos.

I only run street tires and its a street car, with a mild 460 i dont see any breakage issues otherwise

thanks for the ideas!

Funny how a lot of us aspire to reach a twin turboed setup, and those that have them move on to other things! Good luck, Id love to see the 460 in one of our rides.
