Roush 475 HP upgrade kit???

What's up yall? I only saw that a few of you on here and on some other forums have done an exhaust and the 475 upgrade kit.. I just got off the phone with someone from Saleen direct and the guy told me that the upgrade kit DOES void the warranty... My question to any of you guys out there is... Do you just say screw it and do it anyway or is a dumb move to have it done. I am having long tube headers and an off-road X-pipe and a cold air intake installed on my 06 SC Saleen this wk... Should I really worry about the warranty and what have some of you done to your 05-06 Saleen?

If you are doing a CAI (and a tune right???) you have already voided the warranty so I don't think that should be a concern anymore.

Get the kit, slap it on, and enjoy it.

If you are concerned about the warranty then I'd wait. I'm sure Saleen will get their ducks in a row within the year (hopefully sooner) because the 2007 models have the exact same equipment that comes in the 475 HP kit but it is detuned so that it produces 465 HP total with full warranty.

I will bet that Saleen will start offering the twin screw supercharger kits at 465 HP with full warranty in the aftermarket (like they currently do with the 435 HP kits). They just jumped the gun on the 475 HP kit taking it to market before Ford corporate signed off on their changes for the 2007 model year.

edit: And frankly, if you are not worried about warranty, I'd look elsewhere for upgrades than to the Saleen kits and their tune.

Yeah I am going to have it professionally tunned at JPC Racing. They are going to do the work and tune for me. Im just saying screw the warranty.. My car is going to sound bad ass though.. thanks for the reply.

Hrm, well....

Since you are getting a custom tune with your CAI may I suggest you look into the following kits by JDM

I contacted JimIII directly last week about those kits and the price for S281 SC owners is as follows:

Stage 1 is $1,459
Stage 2 kit is $1,975

Those prices are for the parts aside from the supercharger that we already have. It includes the tune, xcal2, CAI (there's which they require for this package/tune), MAF, pully, plugs, and injectors.

Something to consider if you are wanting more power out of your stock engine internals.

JDM claims 400 cars with these kits in the past year+ w/o any blowing up.

That'd save you the dyno/tune costs and you'd get the CAI with this kit.

edit: I should caution though that some people feel anything above 500HP at the crank is a ticking time bomb. These kits are 500HP and 530HP at the crank respectively.

Thanks for suggestion, I'll have to look into that. Im going with the long flow headers and off-road X pipe w/out cats and a tuner. They are trying to find a Cold Air kit for me. Do you know anyone who used the JDM kit and the results of it? Thanks

I don't know of anyone personally other than people on another forum who run these kits on the Mustang GTs and swear by them.

JDM claims 400 cars with these kits and not a single one has blown.

The other forum is ModularFords.com. You'll find all sorts of people doing some extreme upgrades to the 3valve engine over there.

Forgive me guys, I'm new to the Saleen World and am looking for some advice, and may sound stupid.
My car seems a little sluggish it may be that Im not use to the big wheels and heaviness of the car. Im taking it to the track on Wed. and to get Dino-ed next weekend.
My question is: How can you do aftermarket "off Road" pipes on the Saleen and still keep the center exhaust look? I have butterfly baffles on the outside pipes are the there for a good reason?

A friend of mine just had JDM work on his 05, I PM'd him with the thread
to have him post his experience.

281S/C, if your car is 'sluggish', I'm wondering if you have the same problem that
my friend Jim had - apparently a couple of vacuum lines were switched on his car.
The Saleen dealer had no f'ng clue as usual. JDM figured it out, added some
goodies and a tune
and he dyno'd at 444.90 rwhp 415.35 torque

This upgrade gave me 444.90 rwhp and 415.35 max torque.I could have had more but the fuel pump could not keep up,so that and headers will be my next upgrade.All said and done with this upgrade it's like having a new car.Was it worth it you better believe it.As for as voiding the warranty oh well.I only drove the car every now and then.

What's up man? to my knowledge the headers and the X-pipe go from in front of the Stock muffler of mine (06 S281 SC) so the same set of mufflers and tailpipes can stay. I am having it done on thursday at Justins Performance Center in Glen Burnie MD. They are supposed to be pretty good. When I get my work done I will try and post some videos of it. As for the JDM stuff im not sure but i have been hearing good things about there stuff. And as far as voiding the warranty..... screw it i'll have a bad as% mustang that sounds bad as hell. That Saleen upgrade kit does void the warranty so if I were to do that kind of upgrade it would probably be JDM.

Those butterfly valves on your mufflers are there (vacuum controled) to provide the car with torque at lower rpm and open -up at higher rpms to allow for better exhaust flow. However, the flow isn't relaly increased that much considering the size of the pipes leaving your mufflers into your center exhaust.

It's a huge difference. It's like driving a new car.Believe me you'll have a huge smile on your face when driving the car.As for as the fuel pump goes that was another $900. at the time I did not have the extra cash.If I did then I would have.So go for it. I'll try and have the fuel pump and headers done by spring.How about the rear are you changing your gears?

I thought about it but Im not sure if I am going to yet. The shop that is doing it said that it really makes a difference though.

If you can afford them then do it. I went with 4.10s at 70mph it's like 2300-2400 rpms. 3.73 might be a little more highway friendly then the 4.10s. I guess it depends on what kind of driving you do.
