Well, I've been thinking about doing a full Bassani system on my '04 Mach, but I've heard the horror stories regarding the 4V header installs. In the expert opinions of those whom have done it, can it be done by someone in their garage? I am not a pro, my experience is limited to cat-back swaps, top-and-front engine mods, suspension upgrades (LCAs, Sway bars, etc.) and other medium-level mod work. Any help would be appreciated.

no problem-o. This is what you'll need:

>Lots of patience
>a WIDE assortment of sockets (shallow, mid, deep) and extensions (all of em!) in both 3/8" and 1/4"
>wobbly and standard ratchets in both 3/8" and 1/4"
>a full set of open ended and box end wrenches
>Lots of patience

All the mounting hardware is metric. Obviously, you'll need four heavy duty jack stands and a floor jack. It will take you a full day or so and you'll get 'em on. The collectors are pretty tough to get on as the tolerances are all very tight with the parts. I had to beat them on with a mini-sledge hammer (with a block of wood of course) to get them on far enough. All in all, not very difficult but very tedious work. You should note that the new 5 piece X pipe they make is a direct bolt on to the mid length headers. Any other X pipe will require some modification to make it work.

Good luck!
