Well I threw a rod bearing a while back. Never got around to building it back up. Then I moved outa town and use a company truck now. Anyway I found someone with a 5.0 H.O and he said he also has a 4.6 ohc motor that he wants 400 for. With all the efi stuff. The engine also has no more than 76k miles. I dont remember the exact. My questions are:

1. Can I bolt it up to my tranny?
2. Will it bolt up to my engine mounts?
3. Would I be better off staying with cfi than going efi, even though he will provide all the efi equipment?
4. Will my shortie headers fit? **It has stock manifolds on it now**

So far this is the cheapest engine Ive found that runs. It also looks like its in better condition than the other 5.0's I looked at. Im just not real sure about efi. Suggestions? Comments?

This is JMO,but I think you should stick with a 5.0.If moneys a problem theres a place in the 5.0 magizines that sell used 5.0 motors for 600 beans!Plus Im not sure but I think the HP #'s are lower in a t-bird!! You would have a real slug on your hands.

Dont do it. It wont be worth all the money and effort to converto over to something that has less h/p and torque than what a stock 5.0 comes with.

You can find cheap junkyard 5.0 shortblocks for $100 quite easily. That would be the most economical way to go, espically if your short on funds.

By the way, if you were to convert over to a 4.6, you would need a new k-member, computer, wiring harness etc. Not cheap or easy by any means.

Check out www.modularfox.com for further information. I think where most folks run into difficulty is trying to run the factory harness through the older car. However, there are aftermarket harnesses and engine management units that are quite a bit simpler to deal with.
