All, I own a 1994 GT convertible, with a 5.0 Engine. Automatic , Recently it was wrecked in the front end.

I have come into a possible 1996 GT Convertible Body ,chassis that had a 4.6L in it.

Can I put the 5.0L into the 4.6L Engine Compartment??

Any Mechanical Issues??
Any Electrical Issues???

Thanks alot all.

Any time you build a car in any configuration that it did not come stock with, you are going to run into unseen problems.

You will be nickel and dimed into oblivion. The first part of the journey would be to check with someone who KNOWS your state's emission laws... check multiple sources. Make sure that you will be able to legally drive it in that configuration.

I know that in California, there are many issues with doing this swap. They don't like it when the engine going in is older than the chassis, even then, because a 5.0 was not an option on the 96, there are no smog numbers for the smog tech (or the computer) to reference.

For example:

In California:
One cannot put a 69 351 Cleveland in his 86 Mustang because the block is too old, and there are no emissions standards for a 351 because that was not an option in 1986. He can however convert is 4 cylinder into a 5.0 car because a 5.0 engine was an option for that car, in that year.

So the very first question is to establish the legality of what you are doing. Even then I think you are wasting your money. 1996 Mustang is 12 years old. One can go down to an impound lot at the local tow yard and buy 94-96 mustangs for less than what it will cost you to do an engine swap.

If you like the SN95 body style with a 5.0 motor, then keep your eyes peeled for another 94.
