5.0 Mustang-this months Q&A????

My 331 with box stock afr 185 heads, fti cam,and performer intake made 300/330 on a dyno jet.Still needs alot of work due to 19lbs injectors and a stock mass air meter and a not so good intake.I kept the cr at 9:1 because a blower will be going on soon when i update the fuel system.Just wanted to throw my base line numbers out.

you guys with the 331s what kind of quarter miles times are you doing? just wondering what kind of times you get with this kind of power. the new 2011 gt is making about 412 at the crank? or the rear wheels? they are turning high 12s. they are 400 pounds more weight then our 4-eyes. i want to go 331 crate motor, and hoppefully be able to be quicker then the new 2011 gt.

450 to the wheels is easy in a 331/347 with the proper combination. No, it doesn't take over 7,000 rpm's, a carb or a solid roller either.

Look up a guy on corral yellow94gt, that guy had a 347 that did 466rwhp, went 10's on 18" wheels and did it by 6,500 rpm with a hydro roller.

My best with my 331 so far is 11.569@122mph. I am turning 7400rpm thru the traps and having a hell of a time hooking with the 4.56:1 gear on the start. Next year I will have a 4.10:1 gear to pull the rpms down a bit and to hook better off the line. BTW this is with a Tremec TKO 3550, a warmed over Quick Fuel 750 carb, long tubes and single plane intake. I have been dying to get in on the dyno to see if it is north of 400hp but have not had the time yet (I would be happy with anything over 400 ecstatic with 430, it is mph like it is making the hp). More details of engine can be found on my build thread.
