5.0 throttle plate in 66 coupe

Hello all. I'm putting a 5.0/AOD (hopefully tomorrow) in my 66. I installed the throttle cable (for a 89-93 Mustang). It installed fine (engine still out of car). Bolted it to the bracket on throttle body. It works fine, but it appears like the throttle only opens about 1/2 of 'full open' (90 degree rotation would be full open) when I pull the other end of the cable. (equivalent to mashing the gas pedal) It doesn't appear like the throttle cable is adjustable at all. This can't be normal or correct. Help?

Thanks in advance,

I sent you an email, but did you want to know more about what parts you need for EFI, or just throttle plate questions?

I was going to suggest that you could come over and look at my setup, but then I looked up how far it is from Waycross to Lawrenceville!

It should pull relatively close to 90 degrees open. Do you have the cable attached to the throttle body correctly? Also on 65-66 cars you cannot use the EGR block because the air intake will contact the shock tower. Since the EGR block houses the cable mount, I ended up making my own bracket for the throttle cable to attach to the throttle body.

TT670, I'm sure I mounted everything correctly. I would post a picture, but I don't know how to do it here. I had my pop send me a picture of his throttle cable fully shut and fully open. I am convinced I have a defective cable/not made properly, because it physically won't compress enough to open the throttle fully. I.E, the cable will only retract ~1 inch, and the throttle 'ball' has to move more than that to fully open the butterfly. Is this making sense? Did you just remove your EGR plate then? How does the computer run the engine without it?

Thanks for your replies. If you PM me your email address, I can send a picture.
