Can anyone tell me the diff. between a 2000 R dohc 5.4 and the current 5.4.
Ive looked all over and can't find the answer. The R is rated @ 390 hp & tq but the current 5.4s have 265 hp and 350 tq. Im taking a SWAG and guessing intake and cams.
the cobra R was also a 1 off motor. the heads have nice open ports and big cams. also the intake is a one off intake as well. the 5.4's you are looking at are also SOHC motors, whereas the cobra R was a DOHC motor. the Navigators make about 330hp and they are a DOHC 5.4L. also you have to remember that the cobra R was a race car. i would imagine you are looking at trucks with 5.4's
