i have a '89 4cyl coupe and was wondering if the spindles are the same as GT/LX 5.0 spindles. i found a REEEEEEAL cheap front conversion, and want to get it while the getting's good. ya know?

No the spindles arent the same. I think the 79-86 v-8s as well as 79-93 with the four cylinder have the same spindle. So those years have the same spindles. The cheapest way to go to 5 lug with your spindels is to get 83 to 90 something 4-cylinder 2wheel drive rangers rotors. Pick 85 to be safe. Thats what i used on mine and you dont have to change anything. For the rear i would go with a 94-96 rearend. I think they are a little longer but it would be the easiest direct bolt on. I found a 8.8 rearend from a local junkyard for 250 bucks.

ok, i like the ranger idea, but the rearend is gonna be a 9" so that is arleady been taken care of. now if i wanna upgrade to drilled and /or slotted rotors with bigger calipers, do i buy the stuff for the ranger then or am i going to be better off buying diffrent spindles at that point??

this place is a WEALTH of information!! ROCK ON!! you guys should think about starting your own website...... oh, nevermind.:SNSign:

Id buy '94/'95 Mustang spindles and rotors and calipers.
Thats what I did. V6, GT and Cobra spindles are all the same.

The setup you have now isnt really upgradable but the '94/'95 setup is. You can upgrade to the '99+ PBR calipers if you want to.

For now Im going to use the stock '94 calipers and good pads and slotted/drilled rotors.

nice, thanks a lot fellas. you dont know how much easier you guys made my job on the 'stang.

i just wish i could give back as much info as i have gotten over the past 3 days.

thanks and ill be a lifer to 'stangnet

You really should upgrade to the 99-04 PBRs as the Stock 94-98s are heavy and not much better than Stock Fox Calipers.
