im using ranger axles to convert my lx to 5lug,just wondering what size the rear drums are or if anyone knows what year ranger i should order the new drums for or if you have the part number.they are only 20 each from autozone so im just going to get new ones.thanks for the help

i know its the same thing thats on the rangers but what year ranger should i order for.some years have diff size drums.im trying to get the part number or year ranger i should order drums for.

I purchased a set for a '90 Aerostar with 9" drum brakes. I believe ALL years Ranger drums with the 7.5" rear end work. Bring in your old 4-lug drum with you if you're nervous about this purchase to compare.

Ok, I was gonna jy them at my local place for 20$ a piece because online autozone quotes 45 a piece...but I feel weird about used drums too.

Buy new. Trust me i've learned my lesson over the years trying to save a few bucks with used parts. You put something used in and there's a prob (there's always something) and then you end up buying new stuff anyway and gotta do the job twice!

Now i just buy new from the start and do it right the first time. I've done plenty of things twice of even 3 times before i learned that lesson

well I bought the axles used but for 110 shipped I couldn't pass them up. Will I need a new seal and new bearings as well...I figure they are both a good idea while I have it open.

I was going to suggest the Ford 5-lug drum kit, but it seems the price has gone through the roof on it.

Way back when i ran 5-lug drums, i sourced out used 100K mile axles at $75 each. That was $150 for used axles.

The Ford 5-lug drum kit was $180 when i bought it. That was for 2 brand new axles and 2 brand new drums. It was a pretty damn good deal.

However, i just looked it up and the same kit is now $400!!!!

Don't that kit come with a little better axle?

yea there was no way I was buying that kit. I think I'm going for it this weekend if I can get a hold of some new drums.
Any input on whether or not I should do new bearings? They are like 35$ at AutoZone.
