5-lug Rims for a fox

different question....seeing as how i am full of them now...lol. if i do go with the cobra conversion will they work with the 17x9's? they are aftermarket if that makes any difference.

The cobra conversion can literally be put together for about 1/2 what the kit costs. Same parts, just not in a package.

I know, because i pretty much did it, except i used the bullitt calipers, because i didn't want anything on my car saying "cobra" on it.

here's the basic parts list.

Calipers-couple different cobra, bullitts, mach 1's
Should cost you no more than $225 new (likely less) for the fronts.

$150 or so for the rears

94/95 spindles $100

Master cylinder $50

E brake cables $75 (Ford motorsports)

4 discs for a 95 mustang cobra, $250 ebay (pretty nice too, made by brembo)

axles $200

Break lines for the front (direct fit, from Disc brakesrus.com) $100

Rear disc lines, $35 autozone special order (ford doesn't make them anymore)

Northracecar.com brackets for the rear $150.

Then some misc. parts.

I'm quoting parts new, other than the 95 spindles.

So if you use ebay, and junkyards you can take about another 25% off.

Since you have an 85, you may need to change your front shocks, but i don't know for sure.

I think my total came out to about $950 for both ends of the car. But i got the rear calipers for $65 off of ebay. And i already had the axles installed in the car.

The kit comes with a master cylinder and brake booster, should i get a new one of those? the master cylinder for what year and model? Also for the rear axles what year should i get them for a 28 spline? 5 lug? Should I look for a set of front spindles that have the hub on them?

Just get a 94/95 Master cylinder from the junkyard or ebay.
You likely won't need need the booster. You will have to convert from a 3 port MC to a 2 port, pretty easy.

Axles depend on if you want fox length or sn95 lenght. I suggest the fox. Get the corresponding Northracecar.com brackets.

28 spline if you are keeping you present diff.

Definetely go 5 lug.

Yes spindles with the hubs on them from a 94/95 ONLY, 6cyl, 5.0, abs, doesn't matter they all work. Prices range from $100-$150, cheaper if a generic junkyard has them, but mustang yards know their value.

Whats the difference between the 3 port mc and the two port?

Not exactly sure, but i do know that anything 94 and newer is 2 port, thus you must convert to it 2 port. And disable the stock Proportianing valve, buy opening it up, taking the guts out, and replacing the cap with a motorsport plug. ($10)

Then you need a new PV by the a/c dryer $39.

Well, has alot of useless stuff other than the spindles.

sn95 axles are longer and limit wheel choices.

I would NOT use used rotors

has gt/v6 rear rotors instead of the vented cobras, and the fronts are smaller than cobra fronts.

You don't want to do this twice.

What you need to know is what length axles those brackets are for. Brackets are specific for fox or sn95.

For the rears, browse through this page, you can learn alot.

Fronts, i still would buy seperate, i realize it's easier to buy in a package, but it's still more expensive.
All the front calipers are PBR's with different looks, same caliper.
You can call downsford.com, and get blank gray ones, for $169, get the cross drilled brembo rotors (look at my cardomain in sig), for $150 to the door, and then $100 for the brake lines.

from northracecars.com im buying just the cobra rear disc brake conversion with hardware? 150 + 12 shipping Where would the best place to get the rear axles be? Parts store for a 93 cobra?
Summit racing i'll assume has the best prices, but you are going to do all this work and stay 4 lug? Reason i ask is because sn95 front spindles are obviously 5 lug only. 93 cobra is 4 lug.

Besides North race cars has a 4 lug package that you can retain the stock axles, it's $549.
