5 speed vs 6 speed tranny

i have made up my mind that i'm going with a stick over the auto.
i could go with a t-56 or a t-500, i realy like the idea of having that extra
gear. however is it realy useful? do you guys with six speeds use that extra
gear eunff to make it worth it?

So whats your pick 6 speed or 5 speed

btw: the car will be used a a weekend toy

Depends on the actual gearing.

The extra gearing in the 6-spds is not after 5th gear on a normal 5-spd, but it would be between 4th and 5th gear.

In other words, 5th and 6th are the same ratio between the two trans (or close enough)

The viper spec 6-spd does have a very low 6th gear, but the Ford unit does not.

So like i said, it all depends on which version you pick up.
