Tell me how to get to this seemingly attainable goal. NO SPRAY!

Boost? (Least expensive, most troublefree, driveable, good throttle response.)
Must run with stock internals.

Cams & heads? What exactly are my options here? Who does 4V cams? What can be done with my stock heads? What kinds of gains can be made in these areas?

Other options? NO SPRAY!

LOL...Thanks kids...I'm an old fart so be gentle with me and help me with tips to get some more HP/TQ out of my little road rocket.

supercharger?
oh yeah! and Ricer Stickers, they add like 5hp per sticker

Nah seriously I think you can port/bore the heads? I don't know what kind of hp increase it gets but I'm sure someone will know...

Here's a few options for ya:

Cams/Heads- Several companies make cam kits for our cars, SHM, Comp Cams, VT and don't forget the FRPP cam set. Cams are great and give a cool loping idle, but in NA cars, the gains seen by most cams don't seem to be worth the cost involved. And as far as know, no cam package is gonna give you 50 more rwhp. 30, maybe, but not 50. You can bjy regrinds for half the price, but those are used parts.. I wouldnt do that to my snake. Check out the FR500 cam set, 1300 bucks for cams, and whole new valvetrain. Nice price :)

Another good option for your heads [and don't forget your intake manifold] is a trip to Extrude Hone. They have a great process to pnp all the inner surfaces of your heads and intake. I'd reccomend this to anyone, as its not very expensive, and I have seen flowbench results where the modded units flow almost 30% more air than stock.

Boost- Well, most ppl would tell you to go with a 9 lb Kenne Bell kit. I would too, if you're rich. KB are some of the most impressive blowers out there. You ask for an inexpensive blower, and I'm sad to say they don't exist. Any kit, even used, is gonna cost around 2500 minimum. Probably the cheapest route would be a used P1SC Procharger, or maybe a Vortech.

9 lbs is the maximum you want to go on our old school stock bottom ends. A excellent dyno tune is absolutely mandatory.

Why no spray? a dry 50 or 75 shot would get you your goal in one easy step and be very safe.

Hope this helps :)

if your cars stalk you should see close to 300rwhp with Lts, o/r midpipe, catback, pullies, T/A, and a cai setup of some kind. iyou can get some cams to give you the extra bump if you need to. also you have to get gears, 4.10s or 4.30s they will make your car move.

Well, the supercharger with a decent tune will put you at about 450 hp with a safe amount of boost. I dont know if you want this much hp for a daily driver(I know I would!) but if you try to do heads and cams, you will spend probably the same if not more on them than the supercharger so thats where I would go. Full exhaust and some 4.10's would make it much more enjoyable if you dont have these already. Good luck, car looks great with no wing too!

This car is my TOY. It sees alot of hard driving...on the public roads. It's my little road racer on a budget and I love it!

So I don't need gobs of HP. I want closer to 350+ available for my 'enthusiastic' runs through the canyons.

I want to be able to keep up with a Vette without doing a full on 1/4 mile balls out run like I do now.

The car is basically stock now with a drop-in K&N, Flow 40s, and 3:73s. The suspension and tires are for HANDLING. Pro Kit w/KYB adjustables, 315s and 275s.

So there you have it. That should give more of a view towards what I ultimately want.

THANKS A MILLION!

First step is, you will be 150x happier with different gears than those 3.73's. They're way too low for a Cobra. 4.10's at the minimum. 4.30's if you want even more grunt through the gears.

Next, you can exhaust all the bolt ons and gradually increase your rwhp #'s rather than making a big dump on one particular item. It's all a matter of preferance. Personally, I don't like the idea of throwing a supercharger on an other wise stock car. Just seems like the easy way out.

Anyhow, were you looking for 350+rwhp or 350+bhp?

Old guy,

Ditch those 3.73's IMMEDIENTLY for some 4.10's+.

I am running 4.10's, anderson CAI, upr offroad X-pipe, bassani catback, and steeda timing adjuster at 13* and trapped 106.2. I wanna tweek the T/A to 14* and shoot for a 107 trap. I am probably pushing close to 300rwhp right now, I would most likely be well over 300 with longtubes.

My combination of mods, plus a healthy engine seem to have been perfect soo far.

350rwhp? Full exhaust, intake, FRPP valvetrain kit, chip/tune should get you very close.

BTW, just busting your balls about the old guy thing. ;)

long tubes would be the first thing I suggest and timing adjuster or programmer/dynotune , cams / headwork etc...... spraying would be soooo much easier .......but longtubes would be on with the spray if it was my car ....

CraigMack...you hit the nail right on the head...I am an old guy! LOL

OKAY...SPRAY GUYS...give me some education here. How can it be used? A few secs at a time? How does the power come on? How often can it be used? How does each system work?

I'M ALL EARS!!!

I don't like Nitrous becuase its temporary power and the bottle needs refilling. Bolt ons and Super/Turbochargers are perminent additions to your car, I like having that "unlimited" power on tap. I like power I can use in everyday traffic and city/highway driving....nitrous won't help you there....sure you'll get a great time at the track...but then again, who cares? I like useable daily power.

Anyways, do the mods I suggested and you will hit 350rwhp if your motor is healthy and your compression is normal.
