what cam are you guys running ?? If i was to get a smaller pulley, do i need anything else to go with that pulley or do i just swap out pulleys? thanks ya'll

I have a video??....I wasnt aware of this..i think your mistaken..
Im running a AFM custom grind hi-rev cam...put it this way..its alot bigger then anything on those charts u posted

to change the pulley is simple, remove it with a puller, might need a smaller belt..but dont quote me on that.

if I were you I would ditch the FMU and just go to bigger injectors...I think 42
# should work, however, you might considering some 72#...go to this website...www.e-stang.com. This set up is really similar to what you want...you can use it for reference.

R U SMOKING CRACK??? His goal isnt making 900hp....geez...42lb injectors will be fine with NO fmu. Get the car tuned/chipped and youll be GOLDEN!

who are you and what do you want? You don't need to be making 900HP to run 72# injectors...did you at least go to the site I provided for reference before you made you ignorant comment? He'll be fine with 42# if he stays with in the 8-10lb of boost, however, more boost will require more fuel...and personally his setup can handle more so why settle for less?

His question was in case you didnt read it..

could you get over 500 rwhp with a 331, afr heads, nice cam , v2-sq pushing 8-10 psi ??..

Hes looking to break the 500hp mark...he is using the stock block..Your barely tapping the potential of 42 lb injectors with his combo in mind, why would u recommend 72 lb injectors? Please provide some sort of logic behind that waste of money. My combo is practically a mirror of his, using 42 lb injectors and have breached the 615 fwhp mark. I dont need to go to the site and look at the "chart" because I memorized the equation to figure that stuff out like 3 years ago. Yea im sure his setup can handle more, but his block cant.

Personally if you use a tuner you can dump the FMU and the 42# inj will be plenty to support what you are looking for.

Sportsman block is a step up from the stock block, ford rates it at 600fwhp. FWIW, my friend Paul, has almost identical set up. Sportsman blocked 331 with AFR 185's,AFM cam not sure wich one but I believe it's the b-41, whatever one they advertise for blown 331, and a "T" trim around 12psi. He had no fmu, and 42 injectors. He runs the PMS and shifts the car around 6600-6800. On the PMS, at wide open throttle the 42# injectors were running a 99% duty cycle. He has the aeromtive fuel system too, forgot to mention that. He went to 72# injectors only because he got a deal on them, but was going to go 55's. Just some info from a similair combo i'm familiar with.

i would get rid of the tfs track heat intake first off and mabe go for a box intake or The EFI SPYDER. DO any of you guys have to worry about emissions? i am building a 347 and want a nice cam outside of emissions. Could i still pass? i heard you could mess with the timing and fuel pressure to acheive this?

500 rwhp should be fairly easy with a blown 331. My '89 Coupe has the following:

-Stock block bored .030 (306 ci)
-Forged steel crank
-Stock rods
-Forged flat top pistons (about 10:1, originally the car was set up for nitrous)
-Out-of-the-box TFS Twisted Wedge heads
-Really mild custom cam w/1.7 roller rockers (can't remember the exact cam specs off the top of my head [came out of a buddies car], but I know it's under .500 lift)
-Holley Systemax II intake
-30# injectors
-Procharger D1SC at 10 psi
-MAC longtubes, MAC prochamber, MAC produmps (all 2.5")

That's basically the extent of mods to the car and it made 534 rwhp SAE through a Lentech AOD on pump gas (mild tune). I know there's plenty more left in the tune, but we actually de-tuned more about a month ago because we want to keep it as safe as possible. I'm just asking for the stock block to come apart. I would've gone with an R block, but we never planned on it making this kind of power. The car was on a 150 shot for about 2 months after we got it back together making 470 rwhp, but I got tired of getting bottles refilled every other day so I got the D1SC. I figured with only 10 psi of boost it would make the same if not less power than on the nitrous... MAN was I wrong! First dyno pull with the blower (before we even tuned it) was 504 rwhp! I remember thinking the cam was too small at the time, but it obviously does pretty well with my combo. When the motor goes (can't be long!) I'm going to do a 331 based on an R block and throw as much boost at it as it will handle. It would be nice to go from 11s to 9s and just skip the 10s all together! Good luck with your stroker!

I'm not about to play you said I said type of game...it's pointless. The website I provided had nothing to do with how much injectors can handle...too bad you're being stuburn and just won't click on the link and stop making an a$$ out of yourself. I don't get how you say his block won't handle the power...he is using a sprotsman block which can handle his power and than some...forged internals etc...The REASON behind possible switching to bigger injectors is that he won't to run the FMU with the 42# injectors if he gets 72#. It's really hard to say...possibly the 42# will be enough but what I'm concerned with is...since the heads are ported (AFR 185) I don't think he will see 8-10lbs of boost...maybe more like 6lbs. Therefore for him to see about 8lbs of boost he will have to switch to a 12lb pulley to get the velocity he needs from the heads. Also it is better to run a little rich than lean on a forced induction set-up...His combo can get more than 500RWHP but definately with more boost and possible a better cam...All the other goodies with his setup will be just fine.

SynMan5.0: How did you get so much power from a 306??? My buddy dynoed his 302 with ported TFS heads, AFM N-41 cam (I believe), holley systemax intake along with 30# injectors and FMU and only made 440RWHP...also he ran an S-Trim with 15# of boost. Not enough fuel and not really tuned either. How are you making 60+RWHP? Nice numbers just curious. Oh and BTW: while on the dyno the RPM's were kept slightly above 5000RPM or else I'm pretty sure the block would have cracked...

I couldn't believe the numbers myself when we first dynoed it with the blower. My compression is probably higher than your friend's car and my Procharger is intercooled. Other than that I don't know why there's such a big difference. I wish I had the cam specs handy because it obviously works really well with this type of setup. I know it's not the dyno either, because we used a different dyno (it was even in a different state!) when we de-tuned it just a little while back and it made within 5 hp (SAE) of what it did at our local dyno! It is now making just under 500 rwhp on a REALLY rich tune on 91 octane pump gas. There are still a lot of different variables, though. It could be any number of things that make our cars different (for instance: mine has no smog pump, no A/C, aluminum driveshaft, etc., etc.). My coupe doesn't make gobs of power until about 4500 RPM. I used to shift it at about 6800, but I eventually broke all of the valve springs and did some other damage, so now I shift just under 6500. The more you rev it the more power it makes, but the mild valvetrain craps out pretty early. I've put a lot of really hard miles on the car with the blower on it (I take it out whenever it's dry and above 20 degrees outside) and it's taken the abuse really well so far. I guess my engine builder did a decent job. It's only a matter of time before the bottom end comes apart, that was the biggest reason behind my recent de-tune, but so far so good. I will try to get the cam specs so you can see if there's a big difference there. Like I said, it came out of a friend's car and I was pretty skeptical about putting it in, but he said it should work well and it did. I don't plan on swapping it anytime soon. 500 rwhp is plenty for my street beater. I'm one that believes in sticking with a good thing. I don't see a reason to swap the cam if it is making way more power than I intended it too, especially since it idles so nice.

sorry I didn't realize that had already been cleared up... my bad But just to throw it up there, you guys need to enter the world of Turbo's.... just got mine running and HOLY **** is it nuts. My peak power might be near yours with the crap tune and low boost I'm on now but this thing can roast tires in 4th gear from 2000rpm. Here's a video for you guys... what a FUN street car. http://www.ryanfitzpatrick.net/images/Turbo_after_dyno-sm_.wmv

Thanks... yea the sound inside the car is awesome, and when that wastegate opens up it sounds like the devil coming from under the hood seeing that its vented to atmosphere. But the torque is just ridiculous. Spools up real fast and spins the tires in basically any gear at any rpm. Even in 5th gear at like 1800rpm, if I just hold it at 1/4 throttle, the whistle comes on and it just starts planting you into your seat where normally it would bog real bad. Hail to turbo's thats all I gotta say
