6 or 8 bolt cranks

:shrug:well im tryin to put the engine back in my 2000 gt and well the flywheel that came off the old engine has 8 bolts, and the one going back in, the crank has 6. does this mean that the engine that came out of the has a steel crank possibly a forged bottom end? someone please enliten me.:D

Windor 2V 4.6L engines (like the old engine) were equipped with 8-bolt cast cranks whereas Romeo engines had the 6-bolt flange. Both are cast AFAIK.
