Well guys i finally got it. Just hit me. I've always loved the 60s (even though i was born in the 80s, just my luck) and i have my 67 coupe (my pride and joy), and i couldn't figure out what "type" or "look" i am going for so i finally thought of it. I'll do like a retro rod mustang. I know a lot of people have tryed that but i find they never really hit the spot right.

Problem is with me where i was born about 25 years to late i do not know a whole lot about the TRUE 60s 'souped up' cars. like for instance i think the tachs were mostly mounted on the dash about in line with the shifter, am i right? well i need ideas guys, after all i'm just "a young fella!"

any help would be great guys, thanks.

How resto do you want? How mod do you want? If you are going for an era modified, then make sure you stick with carbs nad not EFI. Get some books, and that will help you form your own ideas of what your car should look like.

thanks, i never even thought of looking in my books.
and i was going to go carbs(2x4bbl) anyway, i don't like computers in cars.
I know they had cragers S/S back then, but did they have torq-thrust? (15 inch of corse)

and i am going crazy modified, thought it will be prolly just mild, for the time ebing untill i get some real cash, with the gates open to the insane stuff. because of money issues.

Take your time and think it through. Yes to Cragars, yes to TTs. The TTs are more period than the Cragars. Also look at VintageWheelWorks.com.

My project is to end up at half Shelby half Mustang, since my car is neither. Shelby hod, valance and tail. Mustang sides. Thunderbird engine (which is why I need the hood scoop). Thinking about LeMans stripes but the wife hates them, but it is my car. It is all in what you want, always remember that.

Tachs were typically mounted on the steering column, perhaps with a screw-type hose clamp. While "lead sleds" were lowered in the 50s, the 60s cars sat high or were raised somewhat in the rear. The wild, fancy colored paint (like those lace jobs) didn't appear until the 70s. Chrome reverse rims were popular along with the TT types, Magnums, Centerlines, etc (blackwall or red line tires). The cars themselves were often the "ecno" or cheaper body style (exterior and interior, never a 4dr); but with the HP engine, transmission, and rear.

I say go with the TT D's. Thoes look the best for a retro car. Basicly its a 60's car so what ever you do it will look retro, unless you slam it and put lik 17's on it, or something like that.

well i was thinking TT with raised white letter tires (good year).
I know in the 60s trans am racing was quite popular, so maybe if i add some handling feature as well, would that go along good or was that someone newer?
