I have a '65 Mustang Fastback with a 289 engine in it (225 HP). It has 289 high performance exhaust manifolds & "H" pipe on it. I need to order a clutch equalizer bar for it.
I don't know what the difference is in the equalizer bar for the high perf & non high perf. The book shows them as being different.
Do I need this for a 289 HP to clear the manifolds, or for non HP?
THANKS

There's a couple of differences, and you need a couple parts. The standard exhaust goes over the equalizer, while the HP goes below. This, of course, is right where the lower arm is welded to the tube. The HP lower arm needs to wrap around the pipe, between the pipe and block. The equalizer tube is longer, to move the arm closer to the block, and the engine end pivot ends up mostly inside the equalizer tube. This means, of course, you need not just the HP equalizer, but also the HP engine-mounted pivot.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'll try to run down the parts for the HP equalizer bar.

Any Mustang parts supplier will have these, in the Glazier/Nolan catalog the pivot is G06105, and the equalizer G06291. The lockwasher, ball bushing, retaining clip, and felt seal are the same as the standard setup.
