Hey Everyone, long time lurker. I just picked up a 65 Fastback to go with my 86 GT. First mod is to ditch the 14 inch styled steels (which will be for sale cheap soon BTW) for some 17" vintage wheel works V45s.
Here is my question: I've read EVERY post on this forum and others where people have asked about 17's on a 65/66. It comes down whether you want 17x7's in the front with 3.75" back spacing OR 17x8's with 4.75" backspacing. The car has the "shelby mod" control arms. I know there isn't much room and I don't want any rubbing issues. CJ Pony Parts offers the following package:
17"x7" & 17"x8"
3.75" & 4.50"
235/45/17 & 245/45/17
Anyone see any issues with that? Any reason why I'd want to run 8" rims in the front or be better off with 4.75 backspacing in the rear? The package seems to be a great deal with tires.
