65 spindels

Im doing a v8 convertion and i got some spindels from a 69 and put them on the car but the brakes i ordered from ssbc dont fit on them
Are the 65 v8 spindels smaler then the 69

Hi there,

Not sure about the 69 size vs the 64.5-66 but i am almost 100% sure that you must get 64.5-66 V8 spindles, even the 67 and 68 are different.

There are many variables on your question. What year is the car you are putting the 69 spindles on; and what year brake system are you ordering.


Bottom line is that the '65 and '69 spindle geometry is quite different, but solutions are there for you to make a new system work.
 
when you got spindles, did you get drum brake or disc brake spindles? there is a difference. the drum brake spindles have four bolt that hold the backing plate on where as the disc brake spindle has three bolts. also the disc brake spindle has holes both in the upper part of the spindle, and on the steering arm where the caliper mounting bracket bolts in place. the drum brake spindle has no holes in those locations. this is true of all disc brake spindles from 1968 through 1970.
